Marriage Lic. App??

I saw one online..on the Alameda County Website..but I think that is just to order a copy...

Is there a place that where we can print it so the process doesn't take so long??

Also, I know the cost is $85 now..is that just to go up to the window and get a lic. and they say do you take her..blah blah..??

hrm i checked out their website and saw the same thing.

I got married in Santa clara county, so their website is different - and more clear.

you can always just go there and fill it out. It takes about 2 minutes to fill. Just names, addresses, if you've been married before, etc. Otherwise, I would try calling the clerk-recorder and seeing where it is on their website.

The $85 is to get up to the window, they make you fill out some more paperwork. Then make you wait a long ass time for nothing. Then they give you a packet about marriage and why you shouldn't marry a sibling. And then they make you take an oath that you solemnly swear that what you've written is all true.

They don't do the wedding service at the window ("do you take her"..etc) b/c that's a whole different thing. It's only to get the licensed to be married.

Well - I guess I can understand why they would tell us not to marry a relative :)

Thanks for the help - I too am getting a marriage license from Alameda County.

We got our license in Oakland. We went in the middle of the day (around 3 pm) and it wasn't a bad wait...

we went to Martinez...Contra Costa courthouse....you can get it from any county and get married anywhere in the state, unless you want you license to be "confidential" as in unsearchable on the public website...

I JUST went today in Santa Clara County!! We went right when they opened, and there was no waiting -- seriously, like, we got our number and didn't even get a chance to sit down. I had pre-filled out the form, but even if you didn't, it's really quick -- names, addresses, city of birth, parents' names, parents' birth place (just city or country if not US), and what you plan to change your name to, if you will change it, and the date of your wedding. (Oh, also asks for info on any previous marriages, if that applies to you.) It was $79 for us. We were out in about 10 or 15 minutes.

They just give you a copy of the marriage license, then they sign your actual cert, have you guys sign, and then when you have your ceremony, the officiant and witness(es) will sign with you, and then they give you an envelope to send it back to the office. If you want a copy, they have a form you can fill out after the wedding, that you need notarized, and then they'll send you an actual cert for $14. =)

so we are planning on going to get our licence and actually do a civil quick marriage there at the courthouse because there are some sponsors/elderly that cant make it out to San Diego.

Can i get that done in any of the bay area counties and then give it to the church in San Diego that is marrying(convalidating) us?

would you reccomend an appointment or no?
