Married Ladies: Thank Yous...

So this question is either going to make me feel better about taking so long, or make me feel horrible enough that I am motivated to bust them out when I get home.. so...

How long did it take you to get all of your thank you cards out?

It took me about 3 to 3 1/2 months to finally get them all out.  I lagged and for some reason numerous guests moved just before or after our wedding so it took some time to track them down for new addresses.

i can't decide if i want to make more cards with my monogram, or use the ones i purchased at Target that match our menu cards and escort cards, or purchase new ones....

took me about 1 month to get 95% of them out.  i was missing some addresses - those went out at the 3 month mark.

We sat down (both of us) and I worked on the ones from my family's guest and he his, I addressed them all because I wanted them to get delivered to the correct address. We just cranked them out.

ok good - I am about two weeks post honeymoon and I am about half done, and I will finish this week for sure - I kinda wanted to use a picture from the wedding, but then I would have to order new ones and wait for them to be printed and all of that - so I am just going with the ones we ordered before the wedding with an engagement picture on them...

DH has some great aunts and uncles that sent us money that didn't come to the wedding since they are old and live far away, and he was like "we should make them an album and send it with the thank you cards for them and anyone else that didn't make it" hmmmm ... no thank you.... can you imagine how long it would take me to get that together and we all know he wouldn't be doing it!

DH's cousin got married last September....we got her thank you card in December, and it wasn't even a picture one, so she doesn't even have that excuse!

Yeah we got a Christmas card/thank you from his cousins last year from their wedding in JULY that said "Merry Christmas - thanks for the wedding gift"

So I am pretty sure they won't be judgemental if it takes me a little while to get their thank you to them...

Thanks a good idea for the wallet sized pictures.... hmmm...

What about sending thank yous to people who came but didn't bring a gift? I am writing thank yous to all of our out of town guests regardless, but there are a couple of people that didn't bring gifts that are local - so I don't know if I should wait since maybe they are sending later (we have gotten 2 gifts post wedding already) or if I should just go ahead and send them one.

I got married 4/4/09, and all i've done so far is buy the thank you cards... I will probably get a lot done this w/e, FI and I are driving to NY (we live in IA, so LOTS of car time!)...  at least I hope I get them done this w/e!!!

I checked a lot of wedding etiquette resources, they all said as long as it's w/in the 3 month timeframe it's OK.

Kristin, you're on top of it.  No need to worry.

I got the majority of them out with 6 weeks.  The rest I either had to track down their new address or waited for pics to include.

Some of my DH's family very generously flew in from Canada several days before the wedding and were a huge help in preparing.  I sent them a thank-you card and I put together a photo book for them a couple months after that.

My mom said "no gift, no thank you" you paid for their dinner and entertainment. Also, they may feel like you are pointing out that they didn't send a gift.

I am definitely sending them to all of our out of town guests - regardless of if they brought a gift. And a couple of local friends that we know couldn't afford to give us a gift - I definitely want to send them a gift.

Not sure about the other people - there really isn't that many... it just feels weird not acknowledging them coming...

well, remember, etiquette gives them a year to send the gift, so they may send one in the future

It took us about less than a month to send them all out.

we originally bought the cards from target matching our invites but Adri wanted a photo card, so we ordred them from samsclub.com. They have really good prices.

picked them up in an hour.

we just said "thank you for sharing our special day with us" no mention of a gift , because some guest did not bring a gift, that way we just thank them for coming.

we did half in English and half in Spanish.

this was our Spanish card- it said nuestra boda
It took us about photo 469815-1It took us about photo 469815-2It took us about photo 469815-3

they have others.

It took us about photo 469815-4

i know right Jax... or even a card. We had a couple of out of town guests give us a card and it was so nice. We opened a couple of cards each day during our honeymoon and it just felt so nice that they did that even though they couldn't or didn't bring a gift for whatever reason.
