May I join you?

I just got back from my post d&c checkup with my doctor.(Baby stopped growing end of 8 early 9 weeks but had a missed miscarriage at 13ish  weeks) I had so many questions to ask him and found out there was not a corpus luteum on my ovaries at all! So I have testing to confirm that we both think I have a luteal phase defect. I have blood tests to take and he wants me to chart. But what I don't get he just wants me to come back in preggie and but me on pills for progesterone?!? Not really sure what to think about that and asked him if he could put me on clomid so I can get my body to create the corpus luteum on my own. And it doesnt help that I dont know much about clomid.

Any one else have this?

Thanks for reading.

Of course you can join us! Sorry you have to be here though. And sorry for the hard time you had to go through!
I think the corpus luteum has more to do with progesterone levels so it makes sense he would put you on that. I think I have heard Clomid can help with luteal phase length for some but if you are ovulating on your own it may not be the best option. I know progesterone is much easier on your body than Clomid, that stuff can really mess with you! I am by no means an expert but if you don't have problems getting pregnant, maybe the progesterone will help that bean grow strong.
I would definitely do your research before you move onto actual fertility meds. Best of luck to you and I hope you get a sticky bfp soon!

Im so sorry for your loss! I wouldn't jump to clomid if you don't need to. Progesterone is good for maintaining a pregnancy. When I met with my RE, he said he automatically puts patients on progesterone when they use fertility drugs. The reason being that during a medicated cycle, a corpus luteum can "poop out" early and not produce as much progesterone as a naturally formed CL. So if you already ovulate and were able to get pregnant, clomid probably isn't right for you...and it can even be counterproductive with thinned lining and thick CM. There are ways to lengthen your LP naturally with B6 and I know they sell progesterone cream if your doctor doesn't give it to you prior to getting a BFP. Maybe give those a shot before jumping to fertility meds if you can? Good luck to you!

my RE did the same, same philosophy...and both times i was pregnant i was put on the pills after my first blood tests...

the RE had me on vaginal suppositories (gross, messy) because he said the oral version was too easily broken down by your digestive system...but my OB here had me on pills...much easier....

Hello! Welcome, I hope you find this group useful, helpful, inspirational, all that good stuff. We all enjoy hearing eachother's stories and everyone is so supportive here. I'm sorry to hear about your loss, but know that we are hear to listen and offer advice when we can :)

The progesterone will be more helpful in creating the perfect growing environment for your baby. My RE pretty much said the same thing as beatie's RE. My progesterone level wasn't exactly low, but they did want to see it higher just to ensure that I can carry the baby safely. So I'm taking prometrium twice a day to up my levels. The clomid is more to get your ovaries to produce a good follicle that will lead to ovulation. I think your MD didn't put you on clomid because you are able to produce the follices and ovulate? Maybe ask your MD why he thinks clomid is not an option at this time?

Thanks ladies. The taking charge of your fertility book said about the clomid but now after hearing your comments it sounds like it would make it harder to conceive. I think what I am going to do is what beatie said and trying the b6 and cream starting in July. We are not going to try again until october so I have some time to figure this all out. Thanks again.

Hi Princess,
I don't have anything to add what the girls have already said but I just wanted to say I am so sorry for your loss. I really hope that these meds will do the trick for you and that you get a sticky bean soon...
Best of luck to you and DH :)

I'm so very sorry for your loss.  I'm on day 12 of taking progesterone and then I'll start Clomid.  This is my first month for both so I really don't know too much but my Dr. said that even if I do get pregnant this month to start taking the progesterone again on day 28 of my cycle.
