Middle name help

I think we have settled on a name for baby boy.  Declan.  But we can't find a good middle name.  Suggestions?

Aww, I love that name!  It sounds cute enough for a little one, but will definitely work as an adult as well. How about James?  Declan James sounds like a little gentleman :)

I love that name! So funny, I immediately thought of Declan James, too! It's a strong, handsome name ;-) I think since Declan is a unique name, a traditional middle name could work great. (James, Thomas, Charles, etc.)

Of course, it might also depend how it works with your last name, too!

Love Declan! I agree with Deb, a traditional middle name sounds like a good flow. I really like Declan James like shneffer suggested!

Unfortunately, James is the ONE name we will not use.  It is my FIL's name and he's pretty much a scumbag.  We've tossed around using John (my father and DH's stepdad's name) but we aren't sure....

Aww, boo :( -what about Alexander or Thomas? I agree with Deb about the use of a classic name to go with Declan.

I know I may sound weird but I think, with Declan, the middle name should be one syllable, like James or John or Sean.  So I do like the flow of Declan John!

First off, I LOVE that name!! dorkmeetsnerd wrote what I was thinking. I am a syllables person. I agree that the middle name should be a 1 syllable name. Declan John sound sooo good! And its your father & DH's steps dad's name!

OMG - MNM! So funny, I do the yell test too!

I know!  I really, really liked James for a middle name  It's sounds great with a hipster name like Declan, gives it a badass vibe, like James Dean or James Bond.

Ha, nevermind.  I'm a dork.

Fist of all, that is such a cute name! And I love everyone's suggestions, especially Declan John. We're actually using James for our LO's middle name haha I liked it for a first name but I settled for the middle name :) And I'm also guilty of the yell test!

I feel like Declan needs a middle name without a hard ending which is why James sounds so good with it. How about Declan Miles, Declan Thomas, Declan Andrew, Declan Phillip. I would probably try to find either a one or two syllable name too. Having a two syllable name and then two syllable middle name sounds sing songy so depending on your last name I would do the opposite so you have either 2-1-3 or 2-1-2 or whatever but not 2-1-1 or 2-3-3 ya know?

Oh, I love that Ash!!! Miles and John, too.

Kristin said what I was trying say (much better!) about the first and middle names fitting with your last name. We have a two syllable last name, and I had to rule out two-syllable middle names right away because of the sing-song sound. Now I need to do the yell test! :-D
