Mini-honeymood in California??

My FH and I haven't spoken to much about our honeymoon, but I kept thinking about it last night. We are on a tight budget for the wedding overall, and now that we are hoping to buy a house early next year, we just don't have the money to travel anywhere. We wanted to have a mini-honeymood here in California, do you girls have any suggestions (I did think of Big Sur, but since I heard about the fires, I don't know that it's a good idea). I am living in Orange County and our wedding if Nov. 9th.

You can do something a bit closer to home and go to Santa Barbara...or the central coast wine country like Santa Ynez or Paso Robles...

We may be doing the same thing since I can't fathom spending any more money right now haha You can still register for a honeymoon or your choice to help relieve the costs- that's what were doing...  Just start to brainstorm what you like!

Beach vs. inland or winery areas

To go up north or SD (although you already live close to down there)

Something with a little adventure- like my FI wants haha

Catalina (We had a blast there for our anniversary)

- HMM :)

Or you could go up to Cambria or Monterey. I agree with Beatie, check out Santa Barbara, or even San Diego- maybe Coronado Island? Or just head out to Catalina for a few days!

I will check out a couple of places. We aren't beach people, so we would still to inland.

Since you're not into the beach, how about Yosemite or Lake Tahoe?

If you can wait and have your honeymoon in the Spring, Yosemite is fabulous with all of the waterfalls at their full force. It's still pretty cold, but beautiful. Depending on your budget, the Ahwanee Hotel is really nice.

I love Lake Tahoe as it has so much to offer... nice hotels or camping, casinos, sightseeing, skiing, boating, paddleboat cruises. I'm not a fan of skiing, so I normally go in the summer. I'm pretty sure it'll be snowing by November. It's a little pricey, but I highly recommend taking the gondola up to the top of Heavenly Valley. It's a breathtaking view of the lake. Also, if the snow isn't too bad, drive out to Emerald Bay, just beautiful!

How about a road trip out to the Grand Canyon? It's something I'd like to do one day and do some whitewater rafting.

Good luck!

Just over an hour from OC. Or there is Big Bear, or Ojai is really fun, there is a good spa there http://www.ojaiconcierge.com/

Or if you like the wine (who doesn't) check out Sonoma, it is gorgeous in the fall. The best place there is The Lodge at Sonoma, their spa is AMAZING. Make sure you get a Cottage Room, they are very secluded winkwink

Thanks girls!! Yeah, dirty we do know the tahoe well. We are usually there for the summer (camping), but we could do something different.

theDame, my friend wants to get married at the Madonna Inn  like you wouldn't believe.

To second Jharkins, The Lodge at Sonoma is beautiful.  I just attended a wedding there 1 week and 1/2 ago.  The location is nice...close to the square and the surrounding wine country...about 15 minutes from my house :)

I second Palm Springs and the wine country. Maybe asking for honeymoon specials will encourage people to bump you up for things (hotels, packages, desserts, etc.).
