Spring/Summer 2012 Baby Bumps!

More Vaccines = Higher Infant Death Rate?

Hi mamas!

I was on FB earlier and a friend of mine posted an article that caught my attention.  The article was basically saying that a higher number of vaccines correlates with more infant deaths.

The vaccine issue has been a tough one for me, but in the end I think I'll plan on staying on schedule with the vaccines according to my pediatrician's recommendations.

What do you all think of this?  (Just bouncing around viewpoints...please don't make this a heated debate.)  Do you think this is complete hogwash or does it make some valid points?

Vaccines are always such a sensitve subject :)

I think there are some valid points but that wouldn't sway me from getting my baby vaccinated - It's a catch 22 really!  If you don't vaccinate you risk your child getting sick, if you do vaccinate then there is a risk again for the baby getting sick.

I do think that people are quick to blame vaccines for things - example: A girl on Facebook posted an article about a girl that lost her son after he had the Hep B vaccine that was given in the hospital BUT when you read the article the baby swallowed poo in the womb, had trouble breathing at birth and had a fever...so all of that combined WITH the vaccine caused the baby to lose his life.  The baby should have never had the vaccine with a fever to begin with so really it was the hospital's fault not the vaccine.  But like I said the headline was "Hep B Vaccine killed my baby".  Sorry kinda went a little off topic :)

I am on schedule with vaccines for my lil guy (going for his 6 month shots next week!) this is what my pedi recommends and also he needs the vaccines to attend daycare.

My boys have had all their scheduled vaccines and are fine, my brother delayed some of his daughter's and paid to have single doses instead of combined ones and she's fine too. It really is a question of choice, and such a hard decision for parents. I'm so pleased we only have a couple left !!

That being said, I have seen a child with measles, and one with mumps and I would never ever risk putting my boys through that? My oldest brother had meningitis as a child and still suffers now in his 40s. He was lucky and only lost hearing in one ear, but his immune system is shot to pieces
