Mother in Laws

Any funny/amusing/stressful things about your MIL?

My MIL asked us why she didn't get any wedding photos (didn't give any to anyone I hated them) then says in her next breath she wanted the photos of her and hubby's neice (not any of us)

And hubby says she only thinks of herself (no idea where he got that impression)

Oh my FMIL is........

Summing up my FMIL: While she was on the "back porch" of the small, hole-in-the-wall bar that she owns, we told her that her son proposed and we were going to start planning a wedding. She put out the pot (yes, she was smoking drugs in public)and said "A wedding? Why have a wedding? Just go down to the JOP. There's no since in you having a wedding? Who is going to show?"

My FMIL is Classy.

I really and truly love my FMIL.  I really do.

But she repeats herself very, very often.  The first one was, "Have you met Jen!?" (FI's bro's FI ;) )  FI and I still say that to each other.

FILs live in Boca Raton, a notoriously rich and somewhat snooty area in South Florida, and FMIL goes out of her way to constantly say, "We've always lived beneath our means...you have to agree on finances, and that's how your marriage will stick together...I'm no Boca Babe!"

She cracks me up.  :)  In a good way, though.

My MIL is an evil, domineering, self-centered, patronising, hypacritical, rude, obnoxious twatwaffle.  Now I will stop before I type something really unChristian.  ;')

I love my MIL but she is very loud (hides nothing, says everything, and volume wise).  Most uncomfortable comment made was when my husbands 19 year old had a baby (she said she didn't know she was pregnant)... the topic of condoms got brought up... My MIL decided it would be funny to say "The way ________ (my husbands) used to be, he must wear magnums" oh dear lord... then follows it up with "please tell me you guys aren't like rabbits, I don't want to be a grandma yet"! This was all in the middle of Younkers! SWEET! That was only one of many amazingly uncomfortable comments....

I actually ADORE my FMIL.  :)  I don't have anything bad to say really, but maybe that's because they live in France?  lol

I love my MIL, she's a dear and I'm lucky to have her. But sometimes eating with her can be... well you be the judge.

At dinner last night, it was all suggestions, all meal long:

"Why don't we pack this up and you can eat this if you get hungry later?", "Do you know how to reheat the buns? Here's how:_____", "Why don't you eat it peking duck with the duck skins? Its much better!", "How come you're squishing out the soup from the dumpling? That's the best part!" (That thing was a hot liquid bomb waiting to explode in my face!)

I was like, omg I know to eat and how to reheat leftovers!

She's also REALLLY picky about the food she eats. No white chicken meat, no parsley or anything that looks like it, no Mexican food (unless it's Taco Bell), no tomato sauce cause it's sour, which means to Italian food, everything is always overcooked, beef should be raw, all food should just be chinese food, no cheese sauce on pasta either, everything is the worst thing she's ever eaten, no buns with her burger (and insists I do the same), and 2 ice cream scoops of butter on a single piece of bread, (no sharing with the rest of the table), and she constantly gives away food unless it's chinese. She'll order something, insists she likes it, but ends up giving it all away. I don't think she likes it!

I love my MIL!  :)  One of my favorite memories of her, is playing rummy with her and my hubby and his bro and sis.  I won 3 games in a row without her even getting a tile on the board, so the last time she got this twinkle in her eye and started chasing me around the house with both of us laughing!  :)

I love that she takes time and effort to translate her words into English for me rather then take the easy way and let my FIL do the translating for her.

I very much like my MIL..... she is definitely a classy sophisticated socialite of the surrounding towns around where she and FIL live. My FIL is a real estate lawyer/investor in various businesses so he literally knows 95% of the people in the area. DH comes from a very respected and liked family so it really was effortless to get to know them and really love them. DH has three other brothers and when him, his brothers (brothers wives) and parents all get together it's a ton of fun.... I don't think i've ever met a family like his that really genuinly likes getting together and hanging out with the whole family. I've been on family vacations with them and never had so much fun in my life. I definitely consider myself really lucky to have in laws I really like.

I have posted plenty about my FMIL, as nice as she is it was a PITA living with her for the year that we did... now she misses us both dearly but whenever we do visit we get a taste of why it's so good to have our own place.....

My FMIL is....interesting. Very different than my family. We are laid back, fun people. She is very uptight and awkward. She embarrassed me SO much a few months ago. A family friend, she is 12, often comes to dinner and their house with us every week. One week she calls to tell me they are giving her a birthday party that week. So I went and purchased gifts. I went overboard, yes. But-I was at Target and got killer deals on clothing so I probably spent $30. It looked like a bit more, but I wasn't worried. Imagine my shock when they gave her $10. Seriously. She could have told me small gift, or told me a price limit when I asked. I was the bad guy for like a month because of this.

I adore my FMIL but I know where you girls are coming from my XMIL is still a PITA till this day!!

But back to the good one ;D it's a little scarry how similar we actually are! We are very open, honest, & a tad sarcastic and since we get each other it is easy to squash anything before it becomes a problem =D She has also told me on several occasions I am her DIL with the best sense of humor and it my book that's a pretty big compliment!!

I love my MIL.  She's adorable.  The funny thing about her is that I think she perceives everything in a bigger way than everybody else.  Colors are brighter, reactions are bigger, everything's just more exaggerated......but in a cute way.

I didn't have a lot of respect for my first husband's mom, but I love my DH's mom like she was my own.

My MIL is pretty awesome- she is always on the phone with my hubby, but she's not overbearing and doesn't try to meddle too much. She gives us advice and wants the best for us, but is not pushy about it. :)
