Music Suggestions? Father/Daughter Dance?

So i need to sit down and work on my music selections for the DJ. Right now we just have our first dance which is Everything i Do by Bryan Adams. Right now im struggling with picking a song for my dance with my father... which is something i feel is important. i keep asking my dad to pick a song (so i dont have to deal with the stress of finding something) but he keeps shrugging it off. (i assume because it makes him emotional to think about it.) ever since i was young i wanted the song Butterfly Kisses... because its always made me tear up or gave me goose bumps... i have no idea why. BUT i feel everyone is sick of it, and some how i dont feel the lyrics fit our relationship? (though to be honest ive never looked them up but it always sounds like a single fathers song... which my dad is not. but i could be wrong.)

So what did you guys use/going to use for:

Your introductions song? (i'm thinking Black Eyed Peas Tonight is going to be a good night. or another song thats been playing on the radio recently but i dont know what its called.)

Father/Daughter Dance? (butterfly kisses will be my backup)

Cake cutting? (i dont really feel this is terribly important so im not as concerned about this one)

Last dance? (another no clue here)

Anything else you ladies can recommend?

I am such an 80's hair metal  fan.  sammy Haggar Van Halen motley cru etc....

You should look up ozzy osbourne Dreamer my friend played that at her wedding it was pretty amazing it made her dad cry.

My girl by the tempatations might be a good choice.

Maybe you should sit down with your dad and have him pick 4 or 5 songs and pick one together.

Every member of our bridal party had a different song pretty much:  I'm a college dance coach hince the dance medley lol

MOB/FOH/FOG - Tonight (Black Eye Peas)

FG/RB - Same

Hostesses - Run the World (Girls) - Beyonce

Ushers - Get Back - Ludacris

BM/GM - Milkshake - Kelis

My Brother/Sister In Law - Over - Drake

MOH/BM - Take the Night - chelley

Father/Daughter Dance? My Girl - Temptations

Cake cutting? Share My Life

Last dance? We didn't have a last dance...everyone was on the dance floor so we just had fun.

Your introductions song? This is so bad but I honestly can't remember. I don't think I picked this, I think we left that up to out band.

Father/Daughter Dance? I used Butterfly Kisses. Ever since I was a little girl my Mom would say to me during weddings where it was used, that one day I would dance with my Dad to that song. It's a very long song though, and I know guest attention spans are short, so I cut it down a bit and picked the most fitting part.

Cake cutting? Again, pretty sure I just left this up to the band.

Last dance? Ugh, enough with the tough questions! The band chose this too. ;)

Seriously I'm the worst to give advice on this thread! I trusted the band with chosing most of it and I was happier/less stressed that way!

LOL! thanks Nicole. I would be happy to do the same as you... except i want a meaningful song for my first dance and for my dance with my father. everything else could go to the wind for the most part. but now that its getting close i keep invisioning the moments... those key moments you treasure. i want to remember those fondly. :P

Your introductions song? We used Tonight is Gonna Be a Good Night too! It's a good one :)

Father/Daughter Dance? We aren't the typical Father/Daughter, so Butterfly Kisses was the opposite of what I wanted, so not sure I am much help here! I can tell you that I went with a song that held meaning for us, because when I was really little I was super into 'Cherry Bomb' by John Mellencamp (weird child that I was!) and I used to ask my Dad to dance with me all the time, we have video of him holding me dancing to that...so I wanted that playing in the background for our F/D dance. The video didn't end up working right so we just rocked out anyway lol

Cake cutting? I couldn't think of anything so went with Sugar Sugar...I don't think many people even heard the song so unless you do something special for the cake cutting I wouldn't stress about this one!

Last dance? "Don't Stop" by Fleetwood Mac...I danced with my brother and it was awesome. Definitely go with something fun!!

I'm really leaning towards I loved her first. My father while he approved my FI for my hand in marriage has his reservations about him. My FI isn't the man my father invisioned or me for that matter. Lol. So I feel its apropriate. And to this day he still calls me his baby. :)
