My 11K wedding recap!!
Pics in BIO
My wedding was better than I imagined. It was beautiful for all the right reasons. My husband surprised me with a poem during the ceremony and I just about died. As soon as he said he wrote a poem I began bawling....he could of read the newspaper after he said that and it wouldn't have mattered. He's not the romantic type so that alone just made everything so much better.
As some of you may remember, I had issues with feeling beautiful....worrying that my husband would not find me beautiful or that I would disappoint everyone who expected me to look beautiful. This was because I didn't like how my first hair and makeup trial went and I had doubts about my dress. But in the end, I did feel beautiful and I did love my dress.
I loved ALL my vendors. I can't say enough great things about the venue, my photographer, my florist, my DOC....
I wish the organ during the ceremony was louder. It was too low and my father (who sang during the ceremony) just sang over the organ. I don't think those in the back could even hear it.
I wish my dress was hemmed better. I was stepping on it all night! It was hard to dance in it since it wasn't hemmed right, and we are a family of dancers! My bustle literally fell apart by the end of the night because it had been stepped on so much. But I wouldn't let it stop me from having fun.
EDITED: One thing I forgot to mention in terms of regret is that I got a facial the day before my wedding. If I could do it again, I would've gotten the facial at least 5 days before. My skin is pretty clear but the facial caused me to have some small bumps. Facials can bring everything to the surface so if you're going to get it done, do it the week before not the day before!
Got a DOC! WMforever was my DOC and she just made everything happen. I don't know that my vision (my centerpieces, the ceremony space) would've come to life if it weren't for her. She was fantastic...and I just felt a sense of ease that everything was being taken care of. She's not only calm and sweet, but she's crafty! I think the day before I told her I didn't have anything to throw after the ceremony and last minute she created these cones from paper, put rose petals in them, created little signs on them, and hung them at the end of each row at the ceremony! I mean it was incredible! I HIGHLY recommend her to any NY/NJ brides. You will not be sorry.
Spent a little extra for a photographer - he was a little outside my budget but he worked with me and we agreed on a price we were both comfortable with and I could not be happier.
Kept the guestlist small - We had about 90 people and I think it was the perfect amount of people. It was more intimate and being able to talk to everyone, even for a small while, was important to us. Had the guest list been bigger, it would've been hard to be balance greeting everyone, taking pictures with each table, and just dancing and enjoying ourselves.
Didn't drink too much - I think I had only 1 alcoholic drink. It helped me take everything in, and I wanted to remember everything! Plus, I only had to pee once! and whenyou're in a dress like that, its hard to pee! LOL
I planned my wedding in 2 months and spent 11K. I've learned that all you need is a few personal details, but it doesn't need to be overdone....You'll only drive yourself crazy for something very few will notice. As others have said, the wedding was beautiful because you can feel all the love - the love between bride and groom, and the family and friends that are there to support them. My sisters (bridesmaids) dresses cost a whopping $19.99!
