My Alfred Angelo x Dressilyme gown - with pics!
I am known among my friends as the desperate queen who doesn't mind spending time researching for that cheapest possible option in the good quality range for everything. So when it comes to my wedding, I was on a look for a cheap and good quality, impressive and unique dress. (See how much I ask for?? :p)
My wedding will take place on Oct 1 this year and I started looking for my gown the first thing among all the things I had to prepare for my wedding. I spent endless nights researching for THAT option and after having crawled through literally hundreds of sites and options, I was finally drawn to try dressilyme.
I have done and heard about web shopping...but I had never really heard or known anyone who has bought their gown online! If I were to do it and it screwed up, probably no one around me would have pity on me. But I was sooo tempted to try for the price and the rave reviews here. And I can tell you now that one of the decisions in my life that I am the most proud of is to have tried dressilyme. Read on and you will know why.
First of all, although I already had my design chosen and the rep at dressilyme was so clear and precise in every of her reply, I was still so insecure, nervous and indecisive and got myself into asking more and more questions. Before I had even paid a cent, Paris, the rep who handled my enquiry, literally had over 90 email back and forth with me on my endless questions!! Here is the proof!:
Look at "pre-sales2, Miss (10)" and "Miss, pre-sales2 (79)" in the above screenshot of my gmail conversation overview with Paris from dressilyme. Miss is me and pre-sales2 is Paris. We have had (21) since I have paid but the (10) and (79) conversation counts took place before I had even paid them a cent! I just had so many concerns but Paris still remained EXTREMELY patient and accomodating to my questions! Just this deserves a gold trophy!!
I am going to skip the rest of the progress as basically eveything went smooth. I paid, gave my measurements and they made my dress. The dress was said to take 25 days to make but they had it ready for me in a little more than 2 weeks. I am first going to share with you pics of the original design (the bride's gown in the first pic, of course):
And here is what dressilyme HAS DONE!!
What more can I say?? What more can I say??? Not sure what you think, but to me, despite the dress was not ironed and the pics were taken with poor lighting, the dress still looks stunning to me!
The thing is, the first time I laid eyes on the original dress in google images when I searched for "white green gown", this and only this dress caught my eyes and I fell in love with it instantly. After plenty more hours of googling, I found the brand of the dress and I was left staring at the price with disbelief as it was nothing to close to what I was willing to pay for for a 1-day use dress. I know it is still too early for me to say it, but still, from the pics I regard Dressilyme has made my dream come true that I can wear this dress that I absolutely love on my big day. Also, luckily Paris made the right suggestion of the color of the waist part for me, their final work basically looks identical to the original- an Alfred Angelo 1708 dress that should cost USD$899 but I am only paying USD$220 for it!
I have so many other things to prepare for my wedding in these last 48 days (wedding project keeps reminding me of it everyday!) but I still can't help myself from coming up here to share with all of you here who are concern about getting her gown done by dressilyme! I want to do this the earliest to help as many of you out there as possible to save as much time and effort as possible from looking further. Just go ahead and try dressilyme and you won't regret! To be safe, you can go by my conclusion from my hundreds of hours of research on dressilyme- ask them to make you a dress that is as is the original design with as little customized design and details as possible. If you need the top from this dress and the train from that gown, don't, and go look for a design that is really wholly what you want instead if you want to avoid any dramas and disappointment. Then, find pictures of that dress in as many angles and perspectives as possible because you may know the dress very well and assume they know just as well. They are professionals but there are still too many great designs out there for the mainland tailors to know it all. I can then assure you a great experience with them. Hope these help!
After seeing these pics from Paris, I am still so full of excitement and gratefulness. now. Paris said will have my dress dispatched within these 3 days and I will certainly upload pics with me in the dress when I have received it and tried it on! Stay tuned! :D
