My mom picked them up at the dollar store, walmart, cheap cheap cheap cut them off leaving a steam to poke through the foam, play around stick them where you like them, then glue them on a styrofoam ball (glue gun works better than craft glue- dries faster) Attach ribbon for decoration. D1rty's bio has better instructions and pics!

I'm looking at getting the silk carnations from roseys garden to make two pomanders for the first two pews of the church - can anyone tell me if buying one package w/ 100 flowers will be enough?

jackieg you used ~50 carnations for a 5" foam ball right? So erindira 100 carnations should probably be enough for 2 pomanders each about the size of a volleyball...

I would get more just incase...I made the 3 inch pomander last night and I had to go back to the store to buy more flowers! I know that Jackie said she used 5 bushes (which have about 18 flowers) from the same store I got all my flowers. I used a red hydranga looking flower as well as carnations.

yes...you don't want to have to stop and get more!  i almost used those Cry...but they didn't have enough instock! i ended up having like 5 or so of the smaller blooms left on each bush that i didn't use....but i saved them of course!

I had bought both thinking I could play with the carnations after I did the pomander in the other flowers, but when I realized that I didn't have enough I used the carnations also! Thank God they were the same color!!! But now my ball looks funny upclose like its uneven from the bush flowers and lower from the carnations!!! But it looks okay in pics! My FG is going to carry that instead of petals!!!

i think that's a super cute idea...lots of girls are doing that....makes it easier on the FG too...so she doesn't have to worry about walking and tossing at the same time :)

i'm using mine on the first 3 rows of chairs for the outdoor ceremony
