My Follow up Dr. appt.

I *finally* had my follow up to go over my blood results that I had done last month and it went really well.  So, I don't O and she went over all of the medication in great detail.  She is starting me on Prometrium (sp?) that I will start tomorrow and take for 7-10 days then I will start Clomid on day 3-7.  She gave me my orders for bloodwork to be done on or about day 21 to see if I O.  If I don't then she will up the dose.  She pretty much said that the first month is to see if Clomid is going to work so she didn't recommend that I temp or use OPK until after it's determined that Clomid is working.

I'm going to the pharmacy after work but just curious how expensive this stuff is?

Did she go into detail about your other levels?  Or just mention that you didn't O?  I am not familiar with the Prometrium, so I can't give you advice on that -- What is it supposed to do for you?  I am guessing start your period...

I believe Clomid for me was 6 or 7 dollars.  I have pretty good insurance, so I am not sure if that is the norm or not.

Best of luck to you!!! :)

Prometrium's common name is Provera and it is used to start your period. I take it for 10 days an AF comes 3-4 days after I stop taking it.

How many mg's of Clomid are you starting with - 50?

I've only been on Provera and its covered by my insurance. I'm assuming my doc will give me Clomid next month so not sure if that is covered.

The good news is you are getting answers - FX'd that you O!!!

Thanks ladies!!  It's 50mg of Clomid and *looks* like 200mg of prometrium...kind of hard to read.  It also looks like it says to take the prometrium in the evenings??  This is the one thing I forgot to ask...it doesn't say which time of the day to take Clomid but hopefully it says when I get these prescriptions filled.

I'm also glad DH went and had his SA done last week.  My dr. said that after 2-3 months on clomid with no luck she would want him to go get tested so she was relieved that we already did this!

Oh ok I am familiar with Provera :)  For me, I didn't even get to finish all of my pills and AF showed up.  I think it happened on day 8 or something?  Which is good because I was becoming an emotional and bloated wreck on it..LOL

It was really cheap...just a couple of bucks from what I remember.

I took Clomid in the morning at the exact same time everyday - I think most doctors recommend taking it in the AM.

I took my Provera pills in the morning as well.

Oh no!  Yeah, I've been reading about the side effects of provera :/.  She did tell me that it could come early but to at least take it for 7 days then if it comes to stop taking it.  I need to warn DH but the good thing is that he is on night work this week so we won't be seeing each other too much. :0

I also found it interesting that you are not to take prometrium if you are allergic to peanuts because it's made with peanut oil.  I'm actually ok with peanuts but allergic to tree nuts but I was a little concerned because my Dr. never mentioned it but maybe the pharmacist will...so many people are allergic to peanuts though.

I take Provera 2 x per day - 10mg per pill. Maybe yours says 20mg?

Ya, the side effects are not pretty - it makes me VERY moody!!! Also, I get calf pain... which you need to be careful of as that could mean blood cots if its a sharp pain (vs. dull - which is what I get).
