My friend got married without telling anyone

I just got an email from my friend announcing her marriage! She sent us some pictures of the ceremony as an email attachment. Very simple, very straightforward. They were married on top of the mountain where he proposed after a hike. It was very fitting that they were wearing hiking clothes in the picture of the ceremony with the two of them and the officiant. I guess there were four people there altogether because someone had to take the picture.

Awesome! Eloping has a certain charm to it.

Elopement was my original plan, but DH wouldn't go for it! =( It's just more simple and intimate... it's nice that your friend was able to get married at the spot where she was proposed to.

That's great! It makes it so much more meaningful. I wonder how her family feels though?

Yeah, I just got a similar email from a friend...she and her DH eloped to the beach. I imagine it was because she's newly divorced (she and her ex separated in September 2006) and they just met over Memorial Weekend. God, I hope it works out for them. This is her THIRD marriage and she is 32. The weird thing is that the new husband looks a lot like her ex.

She sent an email with pics (they look so happy and wore wedding clothes...she wore a tea length ivory strapless dress and flowers in her hair and he wore an ivory linen suit) and right afterwards sent another email saying "don't call our parents to congratulate them...they don't know yet...we're flying out to tell them in person." WHOA! But she already changed her profile on My Space and Friendster to "Married".

I think eloping is one of the most romantic things to do...we considered it, but our friends and family protested loudly. So now were planning on a small wedding (about 30 guests) for September...as the date creeps closer, I do find myself longing for the initial, clandestine plan of the two of us eloping.

Okay...enough rambling here....congrats to your friend! I hope they stay "on top of the world"...

More power to her. I'm all for skipping the big wedding in favor of a small intimate one. I felt like eloping quite a few times too.
