Nail art

Does anyone have any good tips on how to create nail art without going to the spa and without making a trip to Michaels to get all kinds of paint brushes?

i have read from pinterest that permenant markers will work over nail polish base coat and then you have to put a topcoat over.  Does this acutally work?

i have also read that you can use paper and rubbing alchol.  does that work?

i really love nail art and have so many ideas, but i do not have the money to go out and buy every color in nail polish.

I've never heard about using permanent maker... but I know a few people who have done newspaper print with alcohol and it's really effective!

I have heard about the marker and also white out that can be used for designing.  You could also use glitter, thread, rhinestones.

Oh, another one...you could paint your nails, take a toothpick and swirl the polish in different designs.  : )

I know I've seen some examples on pinterest using tape to create designs. My sisters does water marble nails and they look super cool!

There are also nail art pens you can buy that is like using markers but they are made with nail polish!

Oh yes, tape definitely works.  I have used that technique before.  If you have any friends that are nail polish buffs, you could also share polishes as well. That's what my friends and I used to do when I lived in Florida.

Pinterest is fantastic for ideas.

Using painters tape is great, I've never used markers as I have nail pens, but I have used regular stickers, glitter and gems that are supposed to be for crafting - they are much cheaper. The key is to be patient, waiting for varnish to dry properly between layers etc is frustrating though!

Try lots of different things, and don't worry if its not perfect - it takes practice....and have q-tips and varnish remover handy just to tidy up the edges
