navy blue for bridesmaids?

I really like navy blue. We're currently thinking a fall wedding, and I think it would look really nice for the guys to wear navy jackets or tan suits. Our ceremony is indoors though and it seems that blue/tan looks best for a beach or outdoor wedding. Do you think it's ok or is navy blue too close to black?

Navy blue is fine; it's very classy. I've seen plenty of navy bridesmaids.

(For that matter, I've seen bridesmaids in black as well. It has to be done right, but when it is, it looks good.)

I think navy sounds great! Maybe you can combine it with a few other shades of blue as well.

I think navy is fine. What's most important is that you and your FI choose what you like.

Is this an outdoor wedding? I would think it looks better outdoors.

I did royal blue and orange at an inside venue. I have photos in my profile. I think it worked with the artwork at the church very well. It also looked nice for outdoor photos. GL!

I think Navy is classic and chic and can work for an indoor fall wedding. You could incorporate gold and wine tones for balance or for more pep, orange and red. I wore a navy blue Watters gown for my friend's wedding and she did sage green accents with cream, pink and white flowers.

We're doing navy blue on the BMs and red on the tuxes. Green is my favorite color, so we thought about green, but you can do so much more with shades of blue at the reception hall, in the flowers, etc. Blue goes with almost everything. Good luck!

I'm getting married in Oct w/the ceremony and reception indoors but both close to the ocean. The plan is navy, sage, blush and copper accents. I've just started looking at bm's dresses. I've already found a Jim Hjelm design that I loved. My biggest fear is finding ways to incorporate navy into the floral designs. Any ideas anyone?

My BM's are going to be in navy blue. The groomsmen are going to be in white uniforms. (Even if the men would wear the black dress uniforms, I'd still have my BM's in navy.) If you check out the pics in my bio, you can see what I'm getting for my BM's

my girls are in navy blue too. the whole theme is a night under a million stars - so our colors are deep blue and very light platinum silver.

Even if your event isn't outside or on the beach, it's still very classic and chic.

Even if your event photo 47467-1

One of my best friends got married this past weekend and her colors were royal/navy blue and silver. They looked soooo awesome with her white! Here's a pic of them together. I think blue really pops in weddings :)

Our girls are in navy and they have gold sahses...for flowers we're doing pale yellow and cream colors. I was debating between that and pale pinks/peaches.

I think navy blue is very classic.  My bridesmaids are wearing navy blue dresses and I am also have the guys wear tan suits.

Were you also thinking of having your father and the father of the groom wear the tan suits too? I'd like to know what you guys think. Thanks!

Ah, you said tan and fall in the same paragraph :) As a designer, if you are going to do a fall/beach them (and stay with me here), Tan gives you a wonderful palette to build upon. Or Cream/Ivory as well. If you do a fall mix theme, you could really make use of a ton of colors... orange, brown, teal, lime, lemon yellow, fuscia, pink, darker reds... It could go either way. and it would still be beach friendly.

You can go beach theme with the Navy Blue too though.. I would mix in lighter blues throughout the wedding with seashells, starfish... Navy mixes very well with lighter blues.  You could also add plenty of creams, whites or lavenders. Have you thought about what kind of flowers you like? Roses are best for color matching as they come in a variety of shades. But you can find other flowers to mix with any theme you choose as well.
