NEED PLANNING IDEAS/ADVICE

Hi my name is Kayla. Me and my fiance are getting married this year on Halloween. We are doing a masquerade theme with our colors being aqua and a deep purple. I still dont have a venue or vendors and i am on a tight budget of 20,000. I am unsure about food and decor for a maquerade style wedding. I live in broward county florida. I would like peoples opinions on a creative card box and guest book. What fun things for young kids. I am also getting my dress made for 2000. I found the perfect bridesmaids dress but i want it floor length and dont know how t ogo about that. I dont know if i should have a veil since i have the mask and if my guest should wear masks whole time or just cocktail hour and on. Also unsure about cake decor. Only thing i know is jack skellington and corpse bride topper. Should i diy or no? what can be diy? I want a cascading bouquet. A boudoir shoot. How hsould i decorate and my centerpieces. Unsure about hair makeup etc for bridesmaids.

personally i think the ceremony should be mask free.  if you want you could have a birdcage veil on your mask.  or just have the veil you like for the ceremony and for the cocktail hour and reception take it off to wear your mask.

Welcome to Project Wedding!

Your budget is totally doable - depending on what you want of course.

I would suggest that you focus on your venue first, once that is found it makes it easier to start visualising how your day will look and you can start working on the decor details.

I personally wouldn't put a 'rule' on if people just wear masks for cocktail hour or for the whole evening, I would happily wear one all night whereas my hubby wouldn't want to wear one at all so I think just requesting people wear one should be enough.

There are plenty of decor ideas out there, it all depends on what look you're going for but just to give you an idea I found these cake toppers on Etsy...

getting something like this for the card box and then take pics from phantom of the opera like a copy of the playbill, photos from the masquerade in the movie/musical, and maybe pics of you and fi dressed up looking like the characters.  kinda fits with the theme.

a masquerade is all about hiding.  this guest book is made up of fingerprints of the guest and then signed with a first name.  if you take the theory behind this of having a basic outline or shape that the guests then pick a finger paint color and place their thumb print to decorate the artwork you could have any artwork piece you want.  even a mask.

some face painters for the kids...coloring activity with masks.  maybe  select the mask the kids do that you like the best from several age groups and give them  a gift card to toyrus for $10-15.

There was a PW bride in 2010 (labrumwedding) who had the most amazing Nightmare Before Christmas themed wedding and bridal shower. Here's a link to where her shower was featured on Hostess With The Mostest blog:

Here are a few pics of her wedding cake. It was even more amazing!

A lot confusions.Well firstly you should search a venue in your budget. So that you can decide how much you can spend on another thinng. For wedding card box you can Diy it your self.It will save your money. You can check any sites for it.

I don't think here any question about how long your guest should wear mask? Its all about their choice.

Labrums wedding looked great from her pics...look at hers and get inspiration.

I def agree, lock down the venue first and look on PW for halloween inspirations...copy and paste some of your ideas on here so we can add to your vision. :)

Congratulations and welcome to PW!

You can choose any design present for hawlloween costume, and its not necessary that you have to wear your mask all the time just wear it till drinks and after than you can remove it...no one will question you and for hawlloen you should go with dark dress or liiitle bit of shinhg in the cloth ..this will give full effect of some hawlloen, and if you ant you can have a hawlloen design wedding invitation or if you want you can design by your self.

First, I LOVE your Colors :) I had the same for my wedding. The top of your priority list should be to find your venue. Once you find your venue it will determine the amount & type of decorations you need for the space. (& you cant book any other vendors until you have solidified your venue and date). I would allow the ceremony to be more formal and bring out the masks as something to "get the party started" for the cocktail hour and reception.

I love the idea, but I agree about a choice in the masks. I wear glasses and won't want to wear a mask during the ceremony or the  entire reception because I would be stumbling around blind. Love the Halloween theme though. Happy planning!
