Need Suggestions - Front Door Color

I'm no good at visualizing these things, so please help me pick a new color for my front door!! It seems I don't have a good shot of the front of the house, but from the two below, you can kinda see what I'm talking about.

Currently, the shutters and front door are the same shade of red. Painting the shutters is too much work right now (and they're in great shape), but the front door needs a new paint job and I'm bored with the red. ETA: The roof color is a little washed out in the pics, but it's a medium gray.

Would black look good? Any other suggestions??

I was going to suggest red until you said you were tired of it :)  I think it's a great pop of color on your house.

Black can work!  Or a charcoal grey?

Thanks, ladies. I really like the charcoal gray idea! I wonder if oil-rubbed bronze door hardware would look funny with that? I want to switch out the oogly brass ones that came with the house :/

I like the idea of an apple green door, maybe slightly more muted, or even a lighter olive green with the red shutters.  :)

You can play around on this site to see the colors together on similar houses. :)

Ooh, thanks! I looked at some green colors today when I was at the Benjamin Moore store. It's just so hard to commit without knowing what it'll look like, but I'm def going to try the link and see if I can mock it up.

How funny, I was going to suggest a dark gray or green before I saw the other responses. Great minds! :-)

I think this chest is gray (obviously not a door, but to give you an idea of how the hardware would look). It says that the hardware is oil-rubbed bronze, but it looks more pewter. That might be an option, too!

Thanks again, ladies. I think I'm going to try swatches of a darker green and a charcoal color, and see which I like better!

My gut instinct and vote is for a gray (charcoal would be pretty!).

Can I say I'm a tad jealous that you can paint a door this time of year?!  We're going to have -7 temps overnight, and we finished any outdoor related projects last weekend.
