NEED WEIGHT LOSS ENCOURAGEMENT :-(

I have began a pretty popular diet...I joined weight watchers! The points system is awesome! It's so easy to keep track of the foods I eat also. I've been doing it for about three weeks and haven't lost any weight...I was down 2 lbs one day but then the very next day it was back up again. Makes no sense!!!!! I have had a salad with little cheese and fat free dressing everyday for lunch. I've been eating turkey wraps, all veggies and little fruits for snacks, very little bread, steamed veggies, etc., and zero junk food! I assume I should be losing at least 2 lbs per week...but nothing. It's so discouraging and disappointing. I have completely turned my diet around! We are so busy with 3 kids so we ate quick meals a lot ( frozen pizza, fast food, processed foods, etc)....but our refrigerator is stocked with all new healthy goods now. Also watching our portions. Weight watchers allows you to exceed your points with "free weekly points"...but I have never gone past my daily points...NEVER! I know when we add exercise then that will help. But I thought maybe a few lbs would come off by changing my diet. ----------- What am I doing wrong? Can anyone give me some tips and some success stories of how you lost weight? I could use all the advice and encouragement in the world!

Thanks!!!!!

Water is key and I mean really. You have to drink it all day. Start walking to ease your way into a routine. I began walking three miles a day since Monday and I refuse to give up.. You can do it I know you can. Walk ten minutes than begin to increase it with the change and diet increase of water and walking it will help. I have a friend who did weight watchers and she did not begin to see results months into it. I think is was about four. I wish you the best of luck I hope this helps..

Changing your diet will show after a while, but really exercise is going to take you over the top to help with that! Hang in there, it sounds like you really are doing awesome with changing your diet!! Add in exercise and you will be doing amazing! Plus, once you get into a routine, you will actually learn to love the gym :)

Ditto what the other ladies said, water and exercise!

I'd suggest checking out the 30 Day Shred DVD from Jillian Michaels. No, it's not a miracle program, you work your ass off...but I've only been doing it for 2 weeks and I've lost 5 inches off of my body! Eat healthy, put down the junk, and you should be eating 5-6 times a day.

The DVD is around $10 at Walmart and Target, and all you need is a mat (if you have hard floors) and dumbbells. It's SO worth it! I usually can't stand at home workouts, but I love Jillian!

If you go and google "30 Day Shred results" you'll be amazed. Seriously, best $10 you'll EVER spend!

I've just recently started a weight loss mission and I've been very successful which in my case is more difficult as you age. there are lots of fads out there, don't get caught up in them.  what I have found always works and nutritionists agree is something along this line...

my breakfast is 3/4 cup of egg-beaters and some fresh fruit or the sugar free dole pears or peaches in water; I have this at about 8:30.

my mid-morning snack at about 10:15ish is fat-free yogurt with about a cup of fresh fruit, my favorite is cantaloup and strawberries.

my lunch is tuna (the whole can)--I've found that it is really good if instead of mayo you use about 1/2 tsp of light olive oil, lemon juice, mrs. dash seasoning and diced roasted red peppers.  I don't use bread, I use something called Wasa Crackers, 3 of them (they're big) and I spread the tuna onto the crackers.  If I don't have tuna, I have cottage cheese with the crackers and roasted red peppers. either way my lunch contains protein.

my afternoon snack is usually about a dozen baby carrot sticks with fat free ranch dressing.

my dinner is either a tuna steak, flounder fillet or boneless skinless chicken breast with 1/3 cup of brown rice and about 1 1/2 cups of fresh vegetables like broccoli, or brussel sprouts..whatever veggie you prefer.

my night time snack is usually another fat free yogurt with a few chunks of fresh fruit. I eat 6 times per day, my night time snack never contains a bread/carb. other things I eat are grilled turkey burgers with sauteed peppers and onions, apples, hunts diced tomato cooked with chopped zuchini and summer squash and many more things I'd be glad to share with you.  I don't do "points" its a chore and I won't tell myself I'm on a diet...I tell myself I'm giving myself a lifestyle change.

Lots of water, tea instead of coffee, and cardio--walking.  I have faithfully lost at least two pounds per week.  I know this post is lengthy but I've really had lots of success with this. You have to fuel your metabolism, if you skip meals because you've exceed your points with weight watchers, your body will store fat as a survival mechanism so try to avoid skipping any meals, that does the complete opposite of helping you lose weight. hope some of this helps! don't give up you can do this!!

Ditto the number one thing every body said....WATER!!!!!! Also you have to switch up your food. That will trick your body! More fruits and veggies because those are zero points (I'm currently on WW as well) also, they always suggest to eat all of your points. That is what makes this program so successful. Talk to your leader and ask for extra help. It takes time, but you will see the lbs start to slip away if you stay consistent. Just like Iike if you watch the Biggest Loser, the first week they lose tons of weight, second week hardly any at all. Your body will adjust and lbs will just start losing. Stick with it and don't get discouraged! This is why diets fail is because people get discouraged! You can do it! :)

I'm here to offer some encouragement!! Stick to it. It sounds like you are doing awesome in changing your diet/lifestyle. And yes, WW has had a lot of success, so stick with the program. Again, adding exercise will help a lot. Way to go, you will see the results soon enough!! Find what works for YOU :)

What might be the cause is that your body panics. You don't give him all the fat and sugar anymore, so your body thinks it's wintertime and the food is limited. (Those mechanisms from thousand years ago are still intact.) So the body stores every single calorie you give him to be prepared for bad times.

If you continue to eat healthy and stick to your points, you body will learn that food keeps coming, just a little less. It will adjust and you will, again you WILL see a result. Don't be frustrated! You'll get there.

I totally get the no time for exercise thing.. I work full time and when I get home the last thing I wanna do is exercise. But if you just start making little changes here and there like parking farther away from the store entrance to get a few extra steps in and take the stairs instead of the elevator that'll get you going and just add more bit by bit to sort of ease yourself in. That way you're less likely to quit than if you just started full force.

Try a couple of things.

Don't always eat the same foods.  You said something about salad every day.  The body gets used to the same things.  Mix it up.  It gives the body a jump start from doing the same old thing day after day.

I didn't see anything in your post about exercise.  You have 3 kids and you'd think that'd be enough, but try throwing something in that is going to keep your heart rate elevated for at least 30 minutes 3-4 times a week.

I lost 107 pounds through Weight Watchers.  It took me a little over 1 year to lose the weight, but one of the things they talked about religiously was mixing up either what you eat or how you exercise to get off the plateaus that occur.

Best of luck!

Melody

You are doing GREAT!!! Losing weight is not easy and it is not a quick process (or else everyone would be thin!) Just keep on what you are doing!  Drink water, lots of it. And if you can, go for a walk as a family for 30-45 minutes a day. It's good to get some fresh air and consisant exercise, even at a moderate exhursion level, is great for weight loss and keeping weight off.  Just don't bite off more than you can chew. It sounds like you're doing a great job with your diet, so just stick with it!! Your hardwork will pay off, PROMISE!!

And don't get caught up with "low-fat" and "fat-free" foods. Most of the time they take out the fat and pack in the sugar. Sugar is literally the devil and can kill any weightloss journey.

I have been with WW for a little over a month now and I am losing about a pound a week. Which they say you should lose between 1/2 lb to 2lbs a week. Anything over two a week isn't very healthy/permanent weight loss. My mom also works for WW so I have double the encouragement. I know key with me is the water. I have one of those measured glasses at work and fill it up at least 5 times a day.. When I am bored, I just always have it near me and drink more.

Also, remember with the Points Plus, if you arn't using your "free extra" points per week, to make sure you are making your daily target. If you are trying to lose faster, the way to do it is NOT by not getting to your daily target. When you give up things and dont get your daily target, you are missing out on the nutrients your body needs. Thats why they tell you to make sure you get those points at least.

Have you gone to the meetings? I tried WW on my own because my mom worked there and gave me all her things to learn from, but I just gave in before Xmas and bought my own membership because I felt like I needed the atmosphere. It was true, I have never lost this much weight, constantly, ever. It really helps me going and listening to the meetings and hearing things that help others.

Hope this helps :) Keep your head up and stay positive. It will come soon! :)

I know nobdoy will agree with me on this one, but this is how i lost over 2 stone in just over 2 months, i will just say please dont do this for longer than 2 months though or it could cause damage to your body.

On this diet you WILL feel hungry and you WILL need willpower but it works, and fast.

calories are EVERYTHING in dieting, when i want to lose weight, and fast i limit my calorie intake :) I limit myself to 1200 a day which is a lot loss than what i'm used to lol! Dont go under 1200 as it becomes dangeous from that point on (watched a tv show, they did have scientific research on this)

Exercise is good for you etc. but i never exercised once on my diet, water is free from calories (yayyy) so drink plenty of it. Rice crackers are fairly low, so is marmite :) you eat whatever you like.. but you have to sacrifice certain things for that snickers you so badly crave haha. Good luck!!!

I am loving all of this encouragement!!!! I read every single comment to my fiance because I love every word! Thank you to all you weight watchers members for all the advice for following the program! Its hard but I know it will be worth it. And I know that I can do it when i'm eating healthy for ME..not just for others to see. Many times I would eat more when i'm by myself at home because there was no one there to judge me...but I'm following my points no matter whose watching or whose around! Example...i'm home by myself today and I have a V8 drink, 2 egg whites, and 2/3 cup of special K for breakfast...AND I did level 1 of jillian michaels 30 day shred! Doing this in my home with no one to push me..all on my own..is a huge improvement for me.

And NicoleJade, thank you so much for your kind words, telling me i'm a beautiful lady :-) It means a lot! I just need to get in shape and FEEL better about myself!

Thanks again to all...and keep the thoughts coming!!!
