Nervous about vaginal birth....

Hi ladies my baby girl will be born at the end of January. I had two kids already, this will be the third. The first was vaginal 14 years ago. very traumatic experience, lots of stiches, forcepts, throwing up, high fever and and a bunch of other stuff. After her birth i had inscontinence for months, I guess to mcuh pushing. For my boy 4 years ago I had a emergency c section. Lots of complications too. For this one the doctor asked me if I wanted a c section, or try vaginal again, she nows the problems that i had with my first. So I dont know what to do. I told her I am compemplating vaginal because a c section is a major surgery, but to be honest i am nervous about the vaginal birth. I dont want to have so many problems like before...

I had quite a few problems with mine a few weeks ago (and my left leg is still numb from the position I was in during labor).  My doctor has reassured me numerous times that the second birth is FAR easier than the first and there will be less complications than the first.  I'm not sure if that will be the case with everyone, especially with a VBAC but I'd say go for it, especially if you've got the OK from your doc.  :)

I also had problems after I had a vaginal birth -I tore, and was in constant pain for about 6 weeks afterward. I've only had one baby so I'm not sure what the after effects of a c-section would be. Though it was painful (only afterward, I didn't feel anything during since I had gotten an epidural,) I would go with a vaginal birth again. I guess my advice would be to consider the pros and cons for each and do what you feel is best for both you and baby :)

My daughter is 7 months today and is my first so I can't speak to subsequent births or anything, but I had a good experience. I had a natural, unmedicated childbirth at a birth center and had minimal tearing which required some stitches. You are right that a C-section is major surgery along with other things so if you can, I'd try for the vaginal birth again. Maybe this third time will be the charm for you! I pray it all goes well whatever you decide! Best wishes!
