New to PW. Need some advise

Hello everyone,  I have been engaged for almost three weeks and some "planning" has been started. My Fiancee didn't want to pick a best man at first.  He finally decided and picked two of his friends.  Now i'm the one in the dilemma and need some advise.  I have picked three of my friends.  The reason that i'm throwing in a third one, is one is moved out of state and if she does make it which i hope she does.  I want her to be in my wedding.  The problem that i'm having is I don't know which one to pick as my maid of honor.  Do i REALLY have to have one?  Can i just have three bridesmaids?  So heres the deal....One of them (who we will call A) i went to school with growing up.  We became really close, i was her maid of honor when she got married right out of high school.  I did not throw her a party or anything because i was only 18 at that time and i didn't even really know what my duties were.  After she got married we still seemed to be close even though we live about an hour and half away from each other.  Ever since i had my daughter we have became very distant. Hardly talk, maybe once a week if that.  The second girl (who we will call B), is a friend that i have gotten close to in the last year or so.  I wouldn't say we are good friends just friends.  She lives a half mile from me and we seem to be doing more stuff together, which is nice.  The third girl (who we will call C) is the out of state girl.  The last 3 years before she recently moved out of state, we were really close.  We talked about everything, texted everyday, saw each other every weekend.  She just makes everyone smile and is a great all around a great person.

I know my wedding is not going to be the $20,000 wedding and everything is not going to be traditional.  For instance my daughter is going to be our flowergirl and ring bear.  I don't want to hurt anybodys feeling and i feel that i will if i have to choose somebody.  Please help and let me know your thoughts.  Thanks.

Hey!  Welcome to PW, you're going to love it here!!  Firstly, it's your wedding - so you can do as you wish :-)

With regards to having a MOH - you don't have to have one, and have 3 bridesmaids (or more or less if you want).  At the end of the day, they'll be so honoured to be in your briday party - you don't have to pick a fave.  I had a similar issue with my wedding planning and decided to have my sister as my MOH and my little cousins as my bridesmaids - that way I didnd't have any problems with offending friends but you just have to do what is right for you.

Happy wedding planning and huge congratulations - I'm looking forward to hearing more about all your plans :)

Congrats on your engagement!!! It's crazy at first thinking abou all of those things isn't it!? Well the ladies above gave great advice! You don't have to have a MOH. They will be happy to be a part of your day regardless! Just kind of talk to them to make sure they communicate well and can work together to help you have an amazing day! (and fun events prior to the wedding day :D)

I had two maid of honors (my sister and best friend) and no BMs, and DH had 2 best men (brother and best friend) no groomsmen...if you ahave 2 people that your very close with and can't imagine picking one, then I don't see a problem with having 2. Its you day, have it your way ;)

Congrats and welcome!!! Always remember, there are no "rules" to planning your wedding. Do what you want! IF you dont want a MOH, dont have one! I had two MOH, and an uneven wedding party!!! But nobody cared, or noticed, or mentioned it. Whatever make you happy sweetie!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!!  Sure does make you smile when everyone is sooo nice!  So Thank you!

So after reading everyones post and thinking about this all day, i think i will just leave it as three bridesmaids.  But i still have to decide who will sign the marriage license.  LOL

The early start of the planning is so stressful.  I'm the type of person that wants everything done now so to have to wait is driving me crazy.  But i'm sure i will get through it.
