Newspaper Wedding announcement

Hey all, are you guys planning on announcing your wedding in your hometowns newspaper? We keep saying we should, but continue to put it aside. Just wondering what the overall opinion of this is.

I did, maybe that was a little cheesy, but we were really excited so we did it. We actually put it in 3 papers, ha-ha. I live in Brooklyn, New York. So we put it in the Brooklyn paper. My Dad lives in Queens, so we put it in the paper by him. Then my fiance lives in Staten Island, we put it in the paper by him.

Here is the link, this is the only one I still have because it was from awhile ago. http://www.rockawave.com/news/2006/0811/Community/041.html

You know, I thought about it, and maybe I still will -- however, I don't live in the same area that I used to (out of state) and it just seems that those that are coming already know all about it.

However, if it's something you can afford and want to do, I say go for it!

Call for pricing though, it can be a little expensive depending on what you go for.

We thought about the NYTimes sine we both lived there but... since we're not there anymore because of the military, it didn't seem right. The other thing is we both hate how its like publishing your resume more than anything else with that paper.... We thought about some other publications but I don't really care one way or the other honestly!

Kristen, YES people still read it! Didn't you know that the Sunday NYTimes in the style section is like reading the women's version of sports?!

We live in DC and we submitted an entry for the Express, which is a fun, younger, spin-off publication by the Washington Post. One of the requirements is "no formal pictures", only funny or casual photos allowed. If you're selected, they interview you as a couple and post an entertaining little blurb =)

We were going to put a more serious one in my hometown newspaper too. Mostly because I wanted to cut it out and put it in our wedding scrapbook...I thought it would be something cute our kids could gag over and laugh at 10 years down the road!

We're going to do it in FI's hometown paper. His grandmother and aunt really like to clip them. Plus I think it will be a nice momento.
