no ring?

I'm more or less curious. What would you do if your FI or H couldn't physically wear a ring?

do you buy one? not buy one? wear it on your neck? get a second ring with his birthstone and you wear it? What would you do?

Probably nothing. DH always wanted a tattoo on his ring finger because he doesn't like wearing jewellery. He found a ring he liked so decided to wear one but a few weeks ago he broke his finger so his ring won't fit over his knuckle so he's back to the tattoo idea again!!!  I don't care either way.

If I couldn't wear one I'd probably have a necklace instead - not that I wear jewellery either so it would probably just be in a case somewhere!!! Lol

Mine doesn't wear one most of the time. He does have one, and he wears it when we're on vacation or going out somewhere special. But he doesn't feel comfortable wearing it at work. It doesn't really bother me. I'm not wearing my wedding band right now either. I only wear my engagement ring. It works for us.

i guess my thought would be 2 fold.

first, are we talking about for the actual wedding.  if so, and he physically couldn't wear a ring, then maybe make it a special necklace, bracelet, or watch.

second, if we are talking about a husband that doesn't enjoy wearing rings or can't because of his job (with a very physical job it is best to leave the rings at home beause they can get caught on something and do some serious damage to the finger.  the reason my dad wouldn't wear a ring.  he saw the damage first hand with a coworker.)  i would say he should still have a ring, and wear it on dates, vacation, or when going out somewhere nice.  my dad had his wedding band.  i never saw him wear it, but now if my brother wanted to he could use my dad's old wedding band for his wedding band whenever he gets married.  it could still be passed down and have meaning.  lets face it, a guy that doesnt like to wear rings most likely would only wear a watch (no necklace or bracelet).  and if you want to have the possibility of a family heirloom a ring is cheaper than a watch that is good enough quality to be a family heirloom.

I like the tattoo idea :) I guess if he really couldn't physically wear one (like no finger!) I guess it would be ok for no ring at all. Most other jewelry options for guys they  just wouldn't wear either. If he just couldnt wear it at work, I still think some sort of ring is nice for dates/other times
