I think you do whatever works for you!  Do you feel a need to explain to your guests why he isn't wearing a ring, I personally don't think it's anyone's business!

We didn't do the 'with this ring ......' part in our ceremony so if you're happy to exclude it I don't see a problem.

You can try looking up more traditional ceremonies, the double ring ceremony wasn't popular until after world war two. Before that there was no engagement ring and only the bride wore a wedding ring.

Here it's a site that can help you with a single ring ceremony:

We put them on as we said our vows, so if your FH isn't having one you could just say your vows to him but when he says his he could give you your ring

Put it on the 'wrong hand' could be an option..also, in other cultures people don't wear the wedding band on the left hand (e.g. Russians wear it on the right hand). I am sure people won't even notice..but as other people said, you don't have to explain yourself to anyone.

So, there's a reason he can't wear it on the left hand, but he can wear it on the right hand? I'm sorry if you've already explained that and I missed it.

Maybe do a blessing of the hands instead? http://bridalmusings.com/2011/06/ceremony-reading-blessing-of-the-hands/

I wish he would make a decision... the words "I don't care" are a thing with him

I have three situations  that might be of relevence that may give you an idea of what to do.

First, A couple who's husband is a a guard doesn't wear his ring at work,
he leaves it at home and wears it on days off....

Second, a couple who's husband is a mechanic / welder he cannot wear his ring at work for safety reasons.
At their ceremony she presented his ring on a chain and simply put it over his head around his neck. he wears is that way always. when he is at work he tucks it under is shirt and when hes not he wears it outside of his shirt but still never around his finger.

Third, I went to a wedding wear the wife during their vws didn't present him a ring instead it was an extremely nice watch. I don't know their reasoning behind it considering I was just a plus one.
However, I thought it was a nice gesture and ultimatly he can wear it whenever or out on date night.

Hope this helps in some way.
