Now where did I put that gosh darned thing!?
Does anyone here but me hate the term "lost my virginity"? I was a virgin until I was 21 and in a long-term relationship (and for the time was hell-bent on marrying the guy), and it was a careful, thought out decision. When it happened, I talked a lot with a slightly older and more experienced friend of mine, who was a great confidant during that whole time. And I told her the same thing.
I truly hated the expression "lost my virginity." Like, oh, I just had it here a second ago, and now whoops! It's gone!! Bye bye! Where'd I put it!?
I know plenty of other women who have not lasted until marriage as virgins, but similarly put careful thought into when and where and to whom they would surrender their virginity. Most of my friends are serial monogomists. I think the term "loss" is so inappropriate for the matter. I don't know - just venting!
