We have! Just re textured the walls to knockdown finish from popcorn and slick walls.. and painted ! Yay . Now we have to start the flooring but it keeps raining and we don't want to cut the wood inside so, its on hold until its clear skies (fx for tonight to be storm free ) and once the floor is done then base boards and crown molding and moving all the her things into her room and begin organization. And from there we will look into what we want for the decor on the walls.

We officially started on Mother's Day. What a great present, right?! ((: And we are just about done. I'm just waiting for my mom to hang some shelves so I can put up the finishing touches of shabby chic picture frames. Actually, I'm also waiting on DH to finish tiling our shower so he can remove our shower doors from the closet & I can put the 2nd dresser back in there. I'm sick of looking at it against the wall. It's a total eye-sore because it's just a cheapy plastic one. Sooo not fitting the shabby chic motif we have going. Haha.

We have the walls painted and her crib up...and her wall decal is sitting in the crib because it looks so damn complicated! Haha...

I am going to buy her dresser in the next week or so and I still need to order three big tulle pomanders to hang in the corner of her room. I found huge ones on Etsy for $10 a piece and I think it would cost me more to make them in person so I may go that route. Besides...when I got married I made tissue pomanders and they were SUCH A PAIN! I swore I would never make another one again.....

Here is a pic of her paint color and crib!

We have the walls photo 3064763-1

The carpet is tan (don't know why it looks pink in this picture!! Haha)

Haven't sarted.  LOL!  A friend of mine from work is giving us her crib.  I need to pick it up this week so we can paint it black (it's white right now).  We already have a dresser and armiore for the room.  No idea on paint color or anything else.

Alison- I know!  I think dh wants blue so that's what we'll do- we just have to pick a shade (i'm guessing something lighter).  The room that we're using already has blue stripes and part of me thinks that we should just leave it and add our own stuff.  DH is not on board with that idea, but maybe I can convince him.  Thankfully, I'm not a big decorator and could care less about having a picturesque nursery.  We're going to spend more time and money on his room when he's bigger and can tell us what he wants. I love seeing other people's ideas and finished nurseries, though!  My parents and sister are coming this weekend so I think we'll take care of the registry and painting the furniture.

Btw- I love that shade of green (it's actually more aquaish isn't it?).

I'm not going too crazy...my big expense is her dresser and I just found one on sale for $174 on Target's website! My friend actually has the same dresser and said it is really nice for the price. Her swing was a hand me down, and my mom bought her crib. Other than that I have the decal, the pomanders, and I am going to get a couple of floating shelves and we will be done.

What do the stripes look like? Take a pic and maybe we can persuade your DH too!

It is an aqua color...it is called Ocean Whisper. Depending on how the light hits it, it looks green some days and blue others.

I bought a sock monkey decal with his initial and I have picture frames for his sonograms. I was going to paint but its on hold for now; just some accent lines around the room. We just need a chandelier and furniture and it will be ready.

Alison- I'm sorry if I offended you- I meant in general, not anyone here specifically. That is a great price for a dresser.

I will take a pic of the stipes tonight.  I go back and forth, but they look fine (just not sure some days what I think of the color combo).

Alison- here are the stripes.  I don't know why it uploaded sideways!  I think the big stripe might be a similar color to Kennedy's walls- it's aquaish.  The top and bottom are a darker blue and the light stripe is a limey green.

MrsG- how do you think those colors will look with black furniture?  This is a inherited paint job from the previous owners and I originally thought we would repaint, but the stripes are starting to grow on me.  DH is not sold yet that we should keep it for now, but I might be able to convince him.  We'd probably do pretty basic bedding bc the walls are more colorful.  We'll go with a light blue, if we repaint (and we tend to go for blues with a gray tint).

The colors would work with black furnitre, as long as you have lighter bedding and accents (lamps, curtains/blinds etc.) to help give the furniture contrast. The color against the wall gives pop to the black furniture without a doubt.

I would do a few pain swatches tapped to the wall against the black furniture as well to get different ideas. We did that before painting the house and went around to each room (day and night) and tapped up paint swatches we liked and looked at each wall in natural and false light and at night just to see what we'd like.

We are going with dark furniture as well (espresso or black) and the blinds in the babies room are an off white color with chocolate cloth covering the strings so the color of the furniture and brightness of the light paint, off white blinds will bring in some bright stimulating color.

I agree with a basic bedding, light in color possibly and do accent pieces in the room that go with your theme and tie in with the color scheme. You have a ton of possibilities with these colors.

Okay I REALLY like the stripes!! And they would look GREAT with black furniture...as long as you stick with the color scheme of the stripes!! You are lucky...the hard part is already done!!!
