NWR: 6.7 Earthquake on Vancouver Island, Canada

Apparently a 6.7 earthquake was felt on the West side of Vancouver Island (just a few hours away from Vancouver) in Canada.

They've always said the "big one" would hit the west coast in the next few decades :S

With the frequency of which earthquakes have been happening lately around the world..well..this definitely makes me worry.

Guess I'll continue building my emergency supply kit!

I saw that in the "breaking news" headlines!  I didn't feel it so I guess it doesn't travel Down Island as quickly :)

I hope everyone is ok too. It's still too early to know if there were any injuries attributed to the earthquake.

They say there will be smaller aftershocks now (the earthquake happened about 30 minutes ago).

The local news station, chek 6, just said that the earthquake was down-graded to 6.4 with no reports of any damage.

It is scary when its so close! At least they aren't concerned about a tsunami (at least the national news says so).

The frequency was starting to make me nervous about planning vacations, especially after we had the tsunami on our HM. Alas, all we can do is live life and be prepared. Good luck with that emergency kit!

Thanks ladies! So far there hasn't been any news about injuries or damages. There was a minor aftershock (something like 4.0 on the richter scale) but nothing serious. Hopefully that was it for another few  years!

That's crazy.  :/  I hope you and all the Vancouverites are all okay.  And I hope you guys never, ever get another one in this lifetime.  Probably some wishful thinking, but even being here in Alberta, it's a bit worrying.
