NWR: How Do I Dress For A "Dive Bar" - Help w/Outfits

Hello Ladies,

I got cast for non-speaking part in a short film - it's a bar scene.  The director just e mailed me and stated to dress for a "dive bar", so I'm thinking they want a non-club/not too fancy look?  Also, he said to think "girl next door" - can you ladies show me or provide me with examples of what I should wear as a girl next door to a dive bar?  I have an idea, but not sure if I'm nailing it.

I don't frequent bars and/or clubs very often, so I'm not sure of the proper attire.

Thanks :)

Um, for something like that I'd think jeans, thirt, and flats. :/ Kind of like you're going to Applebees or something.

I've always thought a 'dive' was a dirty, trashy place. Dive bars are the ones you want to avoid!

Jeans, a tishirt and a nice pair of heels would work perfect

love me some dive bars, but one of the main qualifiers of a dive is that anything goes!

for the most part tho, if a summer setting -

dive bar, I would say tank top, jean skirt/shorts, flip flops

girl next door, white/summer t-shirt/top, jeans/capris, sandals, ponytail

girl next door @ a dive bar - some combo of the above?

Dive bars are typically small and full of 'regulars' and locals. So there isn't much reason to get 'dressed up' to go there. Jeans, an old t-shirt and sneakers. Ponytail, very basic makeup, no major jewelry. Go in your comfy clothes!

And congrats on the bit part!

Typically to the dive bars I go to, I'm in jeans, my boots, and a cute casual top- tank top, etc. Then maybe earrings and that's about it.

Dive bars are like cheers, so most people know each other. I think Jennypaul and Sam1in5 were on target.

Jeans, or jean skirt, but not too short. Typically if you're going to a dive bar it's to have fun not to meet guys, you know? So you wouldn't be looking your best as if you're at a trendy bad or club.So a tee or tank, but nothing really fancy.Scrape your hair back into a ponytail or even leave it down, but it shouldn't look too coiffed. Flip flops or flats or even sneakers would do, and minimal jewelry.

I would just do regular clothes and dress them up a little like a pair of dark jeans and black off shoulder top some cute black heels and some jewelry

I appreciate everyone's input :)  I'm pretty sure I have the items I need in my wardrobe - sounds like a casual look which I'm sure I'll be able to pull off.

That's so cool.
I agree, classic comfy clothes. You can accessorize but don't go crazy.
Good luck and have fun

I've got my outfits picked out :)  I'll be shooting two scenes beginning at 1:30 a.m. tomorrow through 9:00 a.m. - I'm hitting the sack as soon as I get home from work.
