NWR: Mini-Pigs

Anyone have any experience with them, or know someone who has one? My daughter (14) has gotten really interested in them and I know nothing about them, other than what I can find on sites that sell them.

Any personal experiences?

make sure you get it from a guaranteed source.  They are SUPER expensive (like $4000-$5000).  My brother got a "mini" pig from a mini farm and thought he got a great deal since Cody was only $200.

Cody now weighs almost 100lbs.

Royal Dandies and Dandy Extremes are the little tea-cup ones that look super cute (and are $$$).  Mini potbelly pigs can be anywhere from 40-100lbs

Hope that helps!

I don't know too much about them but there was a time when they were really "fashionable" here.   There were loads of stories where people who didn't get them from a guaranteed source were conned as they were sold regular baby pigs that grew super fast.

I loved the look of mini's, but I never wanted to own one for myself. Then again I am a LARGE dog owner and the bigger the better, so I think that is why.

Dont have one, they arent big around the city area... Ive seen lots of shows that have them featurered- like Honey Boo Boo -.-.

All I know is that they are adorable, can be house trained but if not properly taken care off they can become aggressive- as like any dog really. Also they aren't garuenteed to stay small forever like the PP said, they can go up to 100 lbs which is almost like having a Labordor.

Also they live between 15-20 years so make sure she REALLY wants one cuz it'll be around for a loooooong time!

5 years ago I wanted a Chinchilla, I got one and even though I knew they lived up to 25 years I didn't really think about that when I went to purchase her. Now we have a dog who we both love and adore and it makes me sad that this little cute rodent will be outliving this very active adorable fluffy and loving dog of mine. :(
