It's only a week away for you lovely ladies in America so what are your plans? What's on the menu??
The menu is whatever my future mother in law is cooking up. She usually makes a turkey but every year I cross my fingers for ham because I'm not big on turkey. Lol even though her turkey is better then most. Other then that no other plans really. Spending that Sunday with the future mother in law as well as we're going on a short road trip. Should be interesting. :P
our family isnt really big on turkey, so we are baking a whole chicken. we are also having corn casserole (milk, eggs, cheese, corn muffin mix, cream corn, sauted onions), stuffing, baby brussel sprouts, cranberry salad (strawberry jello, groung canberries, ground apple, orange with zest, pecans, sugar), rolls, and pies.
We're going to my inlaws. I'm not entirely sure what's on the menu, but I know there will be turkey! I would also guess cranberry sauce, green bean casarole, stuffing, squash and more!
On Thanksgiving we are going to volunteer at the Salvation Army (we have never done this together before) and then later go to my husband's family friends house to eat in ATL.
However, I am going to cook the day after for the two of us :) I will cook Turkey, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, sweet cornbread muffins, sweet potato casserole and pumpkin spice cupcakes.
We're going to my husband's aunt's house on Thanksgiving day. I'm planning on bringing mac & cheese and yeast rolls, and DH is trying to talk me into making carrot cake, too. I'm not really sure what else will be there, but it's usually all the standard traditional stuff.
Due to some of my family members having to work on Thanksgiving day (nurses & paramedic), my side of the family isn't celebrating until Saturday. That's when we'll all meet up at my 90 year old granny's house for dinner. My granny makes the best turkey ever, and there are always plenty of delicious sides to go with it.
:) I'm doing a buttermilk dry brine on my turkey, then dousing that sucker in butter. Stuffing will be sourdough this year, I just bought the loaf :3 Might make foccaccia dressing, too. then sweet potato fingerlings with a balsamic glaze, garlic mashed potatos, green beans wif bacon... Jim's mom will help me make a couple pies, probaby a pumpkin with a layer of cheesecake, and then a chess or buttermilk. yeast rolls, cranberry sauce, and... I think that's it! lol
All your plans sound amazing.....and now I'm very hungry!!!
Im starving now lol
We will be thinking of our buds on the other side of the border next week.
I'm off the hook for hosting this year since we don't have a living room to stick everyone in! We're going to DH's side, where is there is always waaaay too much good food!
I'm going up to see my mom and grandma the Tuesday before and bringing some homemade pies and smoked turkey for a little mini-Thanksgiving. So I'm excited about that!
