October 31, 2009

Hi girls...What do you think about having a wedding on October 31, 2009?  It would be a Saturday night wedding.  I fell in love with a Reception Hall but the only date they have available is this date.

You think its good to do even if I dont want to incorporate anything Halloween oriented?  Maybe some pumpkins as place card holders or something but nothing that would give a Halloween feel.

My parents got married on Halloween too!

I guess the real answer depends if you two usually celebrate Halloween - because then you will have double duty celebration.  Kinda like having your birthday on Christmas KWIM?

But if you don't, then it's just a date and it becomes your anniversary!

Thanks I appreciate your responses.  Just dont want anyone to say that its a joke that we are getting married on halloween.  So confused right now....

Its either October 31, 2009 or May 22,2010 - my fiance is being deployed for a year and these are the two options we are working with for the place of our choice.

That's the beauty of having a wedding... It's YOUR wedding =o) ... so, do what is going to make you both happy. I'm sure any decision you make will work out wonderfully.

i think you really have to think hard about that one because you anniversary will always be associated with halloween and like it or not people will crack jokes (not in a mean way..more a silly way). for example, my aunts birthday is on halloween and like it or not, she always has a halloween something on her birthday. whether its her kids dressed up in their costumes when they go for her bday dinner or a halloween themed cake. so i think your anniversary will be similar.

if you are DEAD set on this place then go for it. but if you can find another place, i would consider that.

It depends on how you feel about the day. If you guys aren't big fans of the 'holiday' then go for it. If you love halloween maybe pick a different day so you can enjoy both celebrations seperately.

We're getting married 2 days after xmas. Elijah doesn't like christmas because of losing his twin brother near the holiday and how he feels like you're forced to buy someone a gift... so for him getting married around the holiday makes that time of year special for him again, so in our case it kind of worked out...

Thanks so much...My fiance and I are not really fans of Halloween (havent dressed up in years) - but we just still cant seem to get over the fact that its falling on the holiday where you dress up as something your not.  I love the fall, especially in October but something is telling me to wait that extra 6 months and do it in May.  I dont know but thank you for all of your thoughts.
