October Brides: What's your honeymoon destination?

Any October brides out there care to share their honeymoon destinations, why you chose it, and (if you don't mind) how much you're spending on it?

We're still planning on going to Playa del Carmen.  Our family and friends keep telling us we're nuts because of the drug violence along the border, so we're considering alternatives.  Dang it, I want to go see some Mayan ruins!

Savannah is really nice.  We stayed there this past Valentine's and had a great time.  We mostly walked around the historic district, but there are nice shops, restaurants, cool pubs and tons of museums.  Plus at night there are romantic carrage rides and ghost tours, but we didnt get to do those.

I'm an October bride!! :)) We're going to Cabo San Lucas. All my friends had me freaked about going to Mexico. But they've really beefed up the security at the resorts (since that's their $$$$ maker) and it's actually really safe :) We're staying at an all-inclusive resort for a week :)

We are going to Las Vegas!!  :-)  We decided on Vegas...well...mainly because FI's parents found a great deal on the trip.  We were going to go to Maine on a minimoon, but we decided that we could afford the Vegas trip.  Their travel agent found us a hotel and flight package at a 4 star hotel for $1300.  FI's parents paid the deposit as a shower gift and some of his family paid another $200 toward the trip.  :-)

@MurphNoMore:  you are minimooning close to my home town!!!  We live about and hour or so away from Lake George.  You are going to love it...especially in the fall!!

We're getting married in Aruba so that's where everything is. We're staying at the tamarijn for the first part then at the occidental. I kind of don't want to stay at an all inclusive but he does, so he gets what he wants. I say we are spending close to 6000 when all said and done that'll, will include airfare, hotel for 11 nights, food, drinks, and all the activities we want to do.

Hi there - 10/23 bride here!  We're going on a mini-moon up to North Conway, NH.  We're staying at the Cabernet Inn B&B.  Honestly, not sure how we came to a decision!  lol!  We're paying for the wedding on our own so we couldn't go too far. ;)

We are taking a road trip.  FI doesn't like to fly and he hasn't been outside of CA so we decided to take a roadtrip up to North Carolina to the Nascar Hall of Fame.  He is a big Nascar fan.

From CA to OK, we will be taking Route 66 then it is on to NC.  We have AAA and will be getting reservations for the car and hotels through them.

We are budgeted for a little over 2,000 for our honeymoon.

The drug violence isn't taking place down south where the resorts are; it's more up north.  I went to the Riveria Maya for my Honeymoon in July and it was perfectly fine.  No problems at all.

This is what I received from my Travel Agent back in March:

Mexico’s Riviera Maya Far Removed from Northern Mexican Cities Specified in U.S. State Department’s Warning

Recent Crime Localized to Northern Border Cities; Riviera Maya More Than 1,000 Miles Away, Same Distance as that between New York & Florida

RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO – (MARCH 16, 2010) – While millions of U.S. citizens safely visit Mexico each year, the U.S. State Department recently issued a travel warning urging U.S. citizens to be alert to safety and security concerns when visiting the Northern border cities of Tijuana, Nogales, Ciudad Juarez, Nuevo Laredo, Monterrey and Matamoros.

The Riviera Maya, located on the eastern coast of Mexico and stretching 81 miles along the Caribbean coast, is more than 1,000 miles from the regions specified in the State Department’s warning. Due to the region’s strong tourism industry, cities such as Playa del Carmen boast a 98 percent employment rate as well as prominent police forces, keeping crime to a minimum.

“The safety of tourists visiting the Riviera Maya is our number one concern,” states Javier Aranda, general director of the Riviera Maya Destination Marketing Office. “However, it is important to ensure that the State Department’s warning is taken in proper perspective. While we always recommend tourists take normal travel precautions such as only visiting legitimate business and tourist areas during daylight hours and avoiding unknown areas, the Riviera Maya has been, and continues to remain a safe tourist zone. To address concerns, we’ve posted a variety of testimonial videos to our Web site. These videos are a series of interviews with U.S. tourists who recently visited Riviera Maya, addressing their personal experience in the region in specific regard to safety.”

The Mexican government is taking strong action to secure the affected states, deploying more than 45,000 soldiers across the country

Thanks everyone!  All the hm destinations sound wonderful! MrsStanard2be - NC is beautiful, especially in the fall.  You'll have a great time there.

We just decided to go ahead and take a chance on Mexico.  PinkJulyBride - that's what I keep telling everyone.  Mexico is a huge country, and Playa is far from the Northern border.  We went ahead and booked our flights and hotel, my fiance made me do it last night so I wouldn't keep waivering back and forth on it, lol!  I have a serious problem when it comes to commiting to things like that.  I keep thinking I'll find somewhere better to go or for a cheaper price, lol.

We're going to Kauai.  The plane tickets and private house were paid for by his parents (don't hate) and we're taking care of all activities and food. :)  Why?  Because in the 6 1/2 years we've been together, we've never taken a vacation by ourselves!  And we love the beach.

We are getting married 10/8/11. We are going to San Francisco. For a few reasons. 1 being, we are only going to be gone for 4 days. I have a 6 year old daughter. We both have busy jobs to get back to. We can't afford a lavish long honeymoon. But I also don't particularly like to fly long distances. We will fly up to San Fran, but its only a 45 min flight from L.A.

Even though he has lived in L.A. his whole life, my fiance has never been to San Fran. He loves the way I talk about it, and wants to hit all the touristy spots. Its a perfect, short, inexpensive trip for us to take together.

Hotel, airfare, and expenses...we'll spend about $800-$1000.
