Offbeat Venues

We're having our wedding in my hometown of New Harmony, Indiana, which is full of character.  Most people have their wedding at the Inn there, which is bright and shiny and new and well... typical wedding.  There is a barn as an option.  Any other ideas on offbeat venues one could find in most places?  I'm assuming no one lives there, so just was wondering where are some cool venues you've been to (in the winter!)

Oh, I'm new, btw.  What's up!

City Parks are a great choice! Also, I would try some local museums that you all may have or some community centers are just beautiful! If I remember right (I went to your neck of the woods years ago for a race), there's a BEAUTIFUL state park out there! The best thing about parks besides their beauty, is the price, too :)

EDIT: here are a few places that I found in your area

Atheneum

Lenz

I'm in total love with this place

The Granary

And here is a wedding that took place at the Granary http://toddpelloweblog.com/louisville-wedding-photographer/index.cfm?postID=229

Welcome to PW! I can't wait to see all of your plans :)

Oh yeah, the Granary is fab.  But it's $1500 and includes pretty much nothing.  Which would be fine if I were having a 400 person wedding, but I'm under 100.

It's nothing short of spectacular though.

The Macleod Abbey barn is down by there whichi s what we're thinking.

The great thing about barns though, is that they don't require a ton of decoration. Especailly that place, it's stunning and would require VERY little. So consider that. I would say some flowers (silk if you want!) some tulle, and a little extra colour and you would be set!

Barns provide their own decor :)

Your town seems really cool!!

Our wedding is taking place at the Farmer's Market building in Winter Park - a historic town located directly north of Orlando.  O-town also has a gorgeous History Center (where you can get married in the "courthouse"!), as well as many museums.

In Winter Park, the Women's Club is also a beautiful little place to have a wedding.  I ADORE offbeat venues!!

You got lights and you're done!
