"Older" First Time Bride

I never thought about my age and being married before but today for some reason (maybe its my sinuses giving me the flux today) I've been thinking about how I'm getting married for the first time at 37. I'm okay with it because I waited for the right one, but I remember when I was younger and overhearing my older female cousins talk one day and say they don't know what they would do if they were unmarried at 30, it makes me laugh that that seemed so old to them.

Are there any other older brides getting married for the first time and how do you feel about it?

I don't know if I'd constitute as an "older" first time bride (I was married at 30, and my husband, a first time groom, was 35), but I'm actually okay with it.  It does mean that if we have children we will be older parents, but I'm glad that we took the time and got to know each other better before making such a huge step.

I will be 37 when I get married too, and my FSIL will be 38 when she marries my brother.

I did marry at 21, but it only lasted 7 months so I don't really consider it a 'proper' marriage as a lot of that time was spent arguing - total nightmare!!

Good for you for waiting for your perfect man!!

I think there is nothing wrong with waiting for the right one to come along! I got married the first time when I was 30 and it was because I felt pressure! All my girlfriends were married and having babies! Well it didnt last and here I am again ...my second and hopefully last marriage but now im 40! So embrace it and enjoy it!

I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum - but I believe that age is just a number!! When its the right time, its the right time. The age you happen to be when you find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with (and it is different for everybody) should be completely irrelevant. =] Regardless of your age, congratulations on getting to marry your perfect man!!

I agree age is nothing but a number, The coin is turned this is FI's first marriage and he is   in his 50's. I think it is great to wait for the right one. If I had waited I would not have married the nightmare that I did.

I was 36 when I got married this past June - turning 37 this month with zero hang-ups about being an old fart.  LOL  Being young at heart is sooooo much more important in my books!  I think when people buy into the age game, it places a lot of limitations on what you think you can or can't do, should or shouldn't do and why put yourself through all of that for the sake of some numbers?!  ;)

I am 32 and will be married next year. I am glad I waited to find the right person. It does not bother me at all that I am getting married "late" or that my little sister got married before I did. I don't get why most people  think it should either!

We got married (both of us for our first time) last year. I was 37 at the time and he was 39. When the time is right, the time is right. :) Age is just a number. It doesn't have to mean anything.

I'm glad to know there are others that feel the same way I do.  I actually feel pretty young. Most of the people in my immediate circle have been married by now, some divorced and remarried, but I am happy I waited.  Actually when I think about it I was one of the last ones to have a baby too, I was 24 when I had my son.  Maybe I'm just a late bloomer and I'm okay with that. :-)
