Opening ESTY store: Bling Hoodie POLL

I'm thinking about opening up shop with customized bling hoodies

so I have a few ETSY questions.

How much did you invest in supplies for your ETSY store before opening up shop?

How did you decide on price?

How much would you charge for a bling hoodie?

How much would you spend on a bling hoodie?

What should I name my shop?

I m thinking about photo 2868908-1

Since they are all custom to the bride i would have maybe 3 examples (showing off colors an fonts) letting them know on the front page that they can choose their colors an how much it is per letter

my sister has a esty shop her suggestions to me where, give the item a unique name, that the search engine on it pulls up items starting with most recently added items to oldest. so the more often you add items the more it bumps you to the top of the search

Good questions! I'm in the process of considering opening my own Etsy shop (for non wedding related items).

Though I'm not to that step yet, I have scoured through Etsy to look at the prices others have for items similar to mine. I'd suggest the same for you. You may want to reduce your price slightly at first to give people the incentive to use your shop opposed to a well established shop.

I am not really any help but from a etsy buyer, I chose to go the DIY route because on etsy they are so expensive.  So I would try to keep it as low as possible with you still making money and making it worth your while.

I would think about buying a hoodie as long as its less then $40, over $40 is way to much in my opinion

I would make a few different things for friends and stuff so you have a variety.

and as for a name are you only selling bling hoodies ??

  • I would probably buy one for around $50, it's one of those things I'd rather buy professionally than do myself.

  • I would only do around 2-3 examples at first for people (maybe for friends so they don't go to waste)

  • I spent probably around $100-200 starting and then I started getting custom orders, so I mainly used left-over stuff at first and started getting other ideas.

  • If you're looking for all those rhinestones in big factory packs for cheap (at least the swarovski ones) check out:

  • I find a lot of pearls, beads, etc for cheaper here (since I order a lot of items, it all discounts after 15 items I think??)

  • As for a name, I've kept the same name for everything since my first screen name when I was 12 (blustarfruit) so I really can't give you advice in that department ;)

  • Make sure you have REALLY good pictures (hoodies on someone, in the shade when it's sunny is best for sparkle and non-bleached out photos).

  • Hope it helps!! Good luck!!

Oh, and patience is key!  It took me a long time to get up and running and have consistent sales.  Advertise on PW classifieds (offer a discount!) and post often, get the word out :)

I don't know if this would help, but getting hoodies from places like devon and jones in bulk might help, having us Pdubbers like you on FB for our friends who are also engaged(I myself have 3 other brides to be). and once you have ur etsy shop open you can have friends family or you share the link on social sites (FB again). So send me the link when it happens and i'll share it with my friends :)

If I had the budget I'd pay about $40 on the hoodie depending on the size of the letters

oh and just because I like coming up with shop names:

1. just bling it!

a little nod to Michael Jackson..

good luck and let me know how it goes!
