Opinions: DIY Wedding Dress?!

So my grandmother has made a zillion dresses in her lifetime, and she's almost 80 so I'm certainly attentive to her not being with us forever.  Honestly, our whole wedding is 90% for them, my grandparents are truly the reason why I'm alive! Thankfully (and I don't just mean genetically lol.)

So I was going to order a bridesmaids dress I fell in love with at the boutique in a custom ivory on ivory color from DHgate. It's only $106 so I'm not exactly worried about budget here. I'm mostly worried about regretting missing out on making the dress with her and then not having her here with us in the next few years.

Plus it's honestly not that hard to make! lol The hardest part to the whole thing is the sweetheart bodice with 2 layers, one for the lace.  The skirt I can totally make myself, I actually just finished making a tulle skirt out of $4 of tulle on sale @ Joanns and a sheet I found at my moms! ;) ha!

Opinions? Do you think I'm nuts, or is that extra bit of special memories and love going into my dress worth a little bit more stress (possibly, not sure how it'll actually be too stressful. It's a fairly simple and in expensive project for both of us, and she wouldn't be making the whole thing herself.)

So?!?! (Nice opinions though!!)

My friends mom made her bridesmaids dress for my wedding. it was stunning, and not overly difficult. there are TONS and TONS of fabrics and patterns at the fabric stores for wedding dresses. If you gran wants to, I think it would be lovely to have it made by her, and so special. :) Great idea!!

sadly none of my grandparents are alive.  my great grandmother was an excent seamstress.  i would go ahead and make them with your grandmother.  not only because it would be cheaper and you have the skills, but also for the memories.

I agree there's nothing more valuable than the time spent with those  we love. I think you should make the dress together.

Yea! I feel like if you don't make it with her, you're more likely to regret that rather than regretting making it with her. Have fun! :)
