Opinions needed: if you had a best male friend...

How would your fiance's feel about him standing up on your side for you on your wedding day? I'm just curious. I'm dealing with this issue and I need some opinions about what your guys would say, yes or no?

Thanks!

my FI wouldn't mind. I actually wanted my best friend Drew to be my "Man of Honor" haha...he said no tho...he claimed he didn't want to stand up there w/ the girls...also he gets really nervous in front of large crowds of people he doesn't know..so I think that was the main reason he declined. lol.  He's still the first person I call tho for advice whether he's in the party or not...LOL...Good Luck!!! Let us know what happens!

Haha, FI nixed the idea of a Man of Honor - he thought it'd be weird.  FI's pretty traditional, though.

I think it's great!! My FI would equally think it's great. A friend is a friend regardless of gender.

I don't think he would really care. My friend did an exchange. He stood one of her male friends up as a GM and she stood one of his friends as her BM.

My FI would most definitely not like it.  He's a bit on the jealous side.

I have a bridesman on my side :-)  He's one of my best friends and I couldn't image not having him in my wedding or having him on FI's side.  FI really didn't care but then he's pretty easy going about everthing.

I think its great if you have a male best friend and he should be the one standing next to you on your side... i think my FI would be a little weirded out but would get used to it if its something i really wanted...

Oh, as far as the jealousy aspect, that's not a problem. My friend is gay:-)

And I have happy news to report. My FI ok-ed it. After a lot of issues with my former bridesmaid and what she would/wouldn't wear, it's been decided that I will have my bestest friend in the world not only walking me down the aisle, giving a reading but also standing up there with me.

My FI is like many of yours...more traditional but he said he'd do whatever I wanted and if I wanted my guy friend up there with us, that's what I'd have. I'm soooo happy and this is such a relief to have this decided.

fh wouldnt care really - he and my bff (male) actually lived together for a month until fh got his own apartment when he moved back to SoCal...

bff and i kiss each other on the cheek, sometimes hold hands and hug alot - fh doesnt mind - knowing that bff is of course a handsome, well-put-togehter gay man...  i think if bff was straight, he still wouldnt mind the standing up in ceremonmy part, but def not the kissing and holding hands etc... but i wouldnt do that anyway...

My best friend is whos a guy...my FI prefers it over standing on his side even though he likes him.  AND he has no qualms with it even though him & I also dated briefly during our 13 year friendship.  I'm also having my brother stand up there (& 3 girls).

I had two men standing up for me on my side.  We even snuck them into the bridal suite (a back room of the girls' bathroom) to see me before the wedding.  They are two of my closest friends, regardless of gender.  FI was a little weird at first about the friendship, but once he saw we are just great friends, he has not had a problem since.  He not only did not bat an eye when i put them on my side, he expected it.  I guess my point is - you want the people standing up for you that are important to you.  Your Fi should want you to have those people as your support.
