So I've been thinking about place cards and thought I have to get creative just in case it gets windy. Anyone have any suggestions?
Rocks spring to mind. Like, prettily-painted rocks I mean. Those won't blow away and it fits with a nature thing since you're getting married outside. You could use little wooden pieces to serve as holders for actual place cards. Are you doing cloth napkins? You could embroider the names right on the napkins, but that could be a lot of work and you'd have to buy the napkins. How about painted glass? If you just got pre-made glass squares with blunted edges, that could be pretty. Still be breakable though. That's all I can come up with off the top, but let me think about it for a little while.
i think what we're going to use is something like a "photo" holder. i wish i had a picture of it, but it's essentially a key ring on a stick, and many people put pictures in them. it has a weighted end, which will prevent them from being blown away. if i find what i'm looking for, i'll put a link up :)
We're using these. You can find them at Dollar General! We're spray painting them white. We're having an indoor reception though so we don't have to worry about wind, etc. Also, forgot to mention these will hold our table numbers not place cards :)
I'm attaching my escort cards, with ribbon, onto my favors (60 oz. extra virgin olive oil bottles). I bought a tag paper-punch (sorry don't know the exact name) at a local craft store so I didn't have to cut anything out. Super easy!
I also am attaching escort cards to my favors... they're photo holders anyway so they hold cards... I will also attach wish cards..
Photo holder favor also to hold escort card...
I made these (wind is an issue at our venue too). I'm also having a seating chart in a frame near the front... but the wine charms will be the actual place cards.
