Overwhelmed with bedding

Happy New Years Day ladies!

I don't know why I'm even stressing over such a trivial thing but bedding just overwhelms me.  So much so that it was DH who chose the sheets, devet cover and down comforter for our own bed!  I know, it makes no sense.

It's because I just can't commit to any design or theme.  I have tried to look at so many websites but there doesn't seem to be anything that catches my eye.  I just want to give up, just pick up some fitted sheets and call it a day.  But I don't even know where to get decent quality fitted sheets and my family insists I make the crib presentable.

Where did you or are going to get your crib bedding?  And are you going to get a bumper?  I know that's a hot topic up for debate.

NO BUMPER...

We chose this one : http://dressupthenursery.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=17_254&products_id=2439

I struggled too, to decide...but I knew we had to choose bedding first, before deciding on paint color, furniture, decor, etc. I basically looked up every company mentioned in Baby Bargains....looked at all the designs and hated most of them....we didn't want a "theme" or like Disney characters or bunnies or monkeys....

I found ours at BRU it just happened to be on clearance as well!

Just a bit of advice on the bumpers...we uses ours ONLY because my son almost broke his leg in his crib. He got it stuck all the way up to his thigh and was freaking out so we put the bumpers on.
He also didn't go in his crib until he was almost 4 months and we have the AngelCare monitor.

We are doing a theme- so I found a vintage airplane 9 piece set- so that is what we are going with.

There is lots of back and forth on bumpers- So I am not sure what we will do- maybe not have them on while he is tiny and as he gets older and is moving around put them on. idk.

I looked and looked too- the set isn't 100% what I want- but I can't see paying lots of money for custom stuff. I wish! :(

Last time around I made it all because I couldn't find what I wanted. Never used the bumper (didn't feel like it was safe so we used the breathable ones) and my kid was so tall and pulling up so early that by 8 months (not that she was in her crib much then but still) I had it on the lowest setting so the crib skirt didn't work. Had I known I would have spent much less time thinking and doing it all. This time around I bought a sheet and comforter (to use on the floor for tummy time and have once baby is way way older) on dwell studio. I adore their stuff and while it's spendy when you only buy two pieces its way reasonable and cheaper than lots of the sets you find.

I haven't had much luck finding something that I love but we have decided to use a breathable bumper. I've registered for a pink one along with some light pink sheets. I figure if we decide to go a different direction with the room we can take it back....

We couldnt find anything we liked either, especially in a neutral pattern.  We ended up deciding that we would just have my mother make us what we need out of material we pick and just do basic white crib sheets.  They can't have much of anything in the crib with them anyway.

I second KristinKay about the bed skirt - my son was pulling himself up at 7 months and once we lowered it the skirt came off.  Kinda a waste.  Next baby we will probably just get colorful sheets and go from there.

Oh and not sure if anyone else had this issue but Carters sheet suck!  They are so small that I had to wrestle the mattress everytime to change the sheet!

Jackie, I love the simple, modern design of yours.  Great pick!

I tried looking at all these vendors too but I really don't like anything and if I have the slightest interest in a particular design, it's uber expensive.  <sigh>

Thanks for the tip about bed skirts.  Maybe I'll skip out on those?  Sounds like I should stick with fitted sheets for now.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to do with the bumper.  In the first few months, I'm going to keep LO swaddled in a woombie or some other swaddle blanket so he doesn't break free (that is, he'll let me).  But I am concerned that he can get an limbs stuck between the bars.

Dork- Have you looked at the breathable bumpers? They allow air through but will block baby from sticking their arms/legs through the slats.

i'm building my own set!  im going with neutrals since i'm not crazy about overly characterized themes.  our nursery is classic winnie the pooh, but the bedding is all neutral.  i found an ivory crib skirt with a beige satin trim on ebay (pottery barn kids for $15 with shipping), i've registered for a bunch of fitted sheets that are either solid or muted paterns, and i've found two comforters at ross that i love.  we're going with the mesh liner instead of bumpers (keeps the arms in but air flowing), and the comforters can't even be used until they're out of the newborn stage!
