P90X ummmm thoughts?

P90X ...does it work? I have three months to go and I want to lose 10 pounds and tone. My friend just sent me a copy of her videos but not sure what the outcome will be. I don't want to bulk up like a man! Happy Monday :-)

Girls have to try very very hard to bulk up. It won't happen. You need to build some muscle in order to lose some fat.

it works, I have no doubt. But I can't stand it!!! it is so douchey,I am sorry! :D I can't stand the guy breathing into his microphone and marching in place for 5 min. After doing so many Jillian's workouts, I am so used to fast paced routines, I couldn't do the P90X - too boring!

I think P90X is more focused to a mans body. I have seen so many women who have done it and some of them have more masculine muscle tone and others have a lien look. It really depends on your body type though.

Well I have been doing the P90 routine for about three monts now and I haven't seen in real/dramatic results. I got better results doing billy blanks tae bo amped and the firm classic workout series. When doing those routines I toned my bod and lost fifteen pounds. Doing p90 I lost lots of inches but lost only three pounds but I do look much thinner. I really hate the workout though and because it's sets and I feel like I am at a gym with the personal trainer. I don't like that feeling at all. If you are out of shape then you will find the workouts hard but I don't at all. I am always able to do them without wanting to quit. It depends on the person and no my body is not musclefied LOL! I would quit before I get to that point. I got so bored with te routine now I mix my work other workout routines. As for will it work possibly? It think it caters to men and results they want to achieve but anywho, best wishes in your workout endeavor.

I love it. It works and while I generally don't lose weight on it (I lose inches), I don't care because I know my clothes fit better and I am healthier overall. Plus I am stronger in some ways than I've ever been. I can do pull-ups! First time ever being able to do more than one, unassisted.

I think it's a workout that is easy for people to cheat, though, so you have to have the discipline to increase your weights, get down lower in squats, etc. as you move through the weeks...

Most women can't "bulk up", but I like to have muscle definition in my back, arms, and legs. I think it's sexy. I'd rather be somewhat muscular than "skinny fat," which is what happens when all girls do is cardio.

I do agree that Tony Horton is obnoxious, but we have speakers mounted in the ceiling of our garage, so we just turn on music and do the routines on silent with cues.

@ Gatorbride I agree with you but I believe it's easy to cheat with any workout when you are in the comfort of your own home. I am one those people that don't because I feel guilty if I don't give it my best. As for Tony I love that guy and I think he is cheesy yes but he makes me laugh when I am in pain and let's not mention that he is a great piece of eye candy (whink, whink) LOL! I too also think a defined body is much better than a skinny one but I still want to look like a woman at the end of the day.

I did the original P90 and loved it.  I'm currently working out 5 days a week, but 90 days prior to the wedding I will do P90X as my last push.  Anybody wanting to sell their P90X?

I did it and where I didn't lose much weight I really toned and my endurance went through the roof.  Its very demanding because you do hour long workouts 6 days a week.  If you are looking to tone up, I'd give it a try!!

I'm starting it after the new year (no point in doing it before the pig out days to come this season! haha) Josh downloaded all 13 dvds for me. While they're not AMAZiNG quality, it's good for free. I just need to get a pull up bar now and I'll be good to go :)

They have a "lean" workout you can do to keep that lean looking female physique. Personally, I got used to have a motocross racers body so I want that muscular look back, but not so much that I have a bulging male six pack (ewwww).

I have friends that have gotten WONDERFUL results, and apparently insanity stays true to it's name, so give that a shot too :)

i think you should give it a try just to see.  i personally did not like it.  i found it to be boring and dragged out.  i don't mind working out for an hour plus, but for some reason, i got really really bored doing p90x and literally could not wait until eac video was done.

i'm doing the insanity videos now and i like them much much more.  they are super fast paced so it doesn't give me the time to stop and think.
