Panic about to set in!!!

We are planning our wedding our selves and I'm worried I'm going to miss somthing all together. I'm currently trying to figure out the details of the day. My wedding is at five and I'm worried about the getting ready part and if I'll forget something or not scheduling enough time for everything to be ready.... Any check lists or time lines that helped you guys that you could share?

First off, WELCOME TO PW! And a huge CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement! I am so glad you found us here, and I hope that you can find lots of answers on these boards that help calm your nerves!

A lot of women here (myself included) planned their weddings themselves. It can seem quite stressful to try and think about everything that needs to be done, but there are tons of fantastic resources out there! I found a bridal magazine at Chapters that came with a checklist and it was a lifesaver. It basically just laid out all the common things that you might want to book, make, or think about. There was one through Project Wedding as well, but since we switched over to our new site I'm not sure if it made it over, I will inquire into that for you!

Having your wedding at five seems like lots of time to leave to sorting out the details and getting ready in the morning. I would suggest making a list now of all the things that need to be done that day, and then you can keep adding and finetuning your list as you get closer to your big day. This will also let you plan out how much time you need for each thing. There are lots of brides here who can give you advice on how long it took them to get ready, but ultimately it will depend on how big your bridal party is, and what your plans are for hair/makeup/dressing - so don't be afraid to be specific and ask lots of questions on these boards!!!!!

Please use this site as the fantastic resource it is and I hope we are able to help you out!! I look forward to hearing more about your wedding!

Thank you so much for responding so quickly!! My wedding party is very small - me and 3 girls - nothing too over the top but I've never hosted a party much less a WEDDING!!! I've been searching check lists but have not been able to find a printable one as of...you have to pay to print...that seems outragous to me! Ha - we are in the 21st century! People share still right?!?! I'm absolutely positive it will all turn out amazing - my only goal is to not stress and to have fun!!!! It'll be here before I blink!! YAY!!! xoxo

Hi! Welcome to PW! I agree with Alycia, 5 pm allows plenty of time for everything you're going to need to do! Maybe some of the other ladies can post their timeline they used for the big day. My wedding was over 3 years ago, and I don't remember mine anymore.

And PW doesn't have a checklist anymore, but our sister site, WeddingWire.com has a great one with lots of details, and it's free to print from it. You should check it out! :)

Glad the other girls helped soothe your fears! I just wanted to pop by and say WELCOME! I planned all of my wedding, and between PW and talking to my bridesmaids that had already gotten married, we got everything done that needed to be. I think. lol. Honestly, by the day of, I was listening to everyone who said the only important part is to actually get married, the rest is just extras, :) It made my mind a lot calmer!

That's a perfect way to look at it. My only problem is, my bridesmaids/sisters do not live local so really it is my mom and I doing all the leg work. His mother is helping as well and she is amazing but I just feel like I'm going to forget something crucial! As long as my daddy walks me down and I get to marry my honey, it will be just fine! I did find the time line check off list on Wedding wire. It's awesome! So far, there isn't anything on there that I haven't at least partially addressed! So...YAY!!!! I really believe the rest will fall into place...just mini panic attacks until then haha

Welcome to PW!!! I was a mess leading up to my wedding thinking I was for sure going to forget something - but I didn't!! Eventually you will get a mental checklist going, you will know all your details like the back of your hand - that's the  best part of planning, when it all starts coming together!

One thing I can suggest - book your hair/makeup now, if you will be having it done, and then your stylist can give you a really good idea of how long it will take her to get you ready. That will be a big chunk of the timeline you'll want to have down. She can estimate how long you will be at the salon, and then make sure you allow yourself enough time to get there and back without rushing. Also have your BMs and such do a trial run of getting you into the dress, that will also help you figure out how much time you should allot. Then start at 5 and plan your schedule backward from there...all the pieces will fall into place eventually!!

HTH!! Don't be afraid to ask anything, that's what we are here for :)

My wedding isn't until 2015 so I know how panic sets in. Everyone here is amazing. There is no question you will have that someone here can't answer. Welcome to PW

Welcome! You came to the right place! Everyone is so helpful and supportive here.

My question is what things are you afraid you'll miss? If you make a list of the most important things to you (dress, flowers, shoes, music, etc.,) whatever they are, then anything small that gets missed won't really be a big deal.

I can't stress making lists enough. Anytime you think of something you want in your wedding, jot it down. I had separate lists, too. One for the ceremony, one for the reception, etc.

But I also found this site:

http://www.free-online-wedding-planner.com

And this site is pretty basic but it gives you a timeframe to work with:

Many blessing to you and let us know how your planning is coming along!
