Parents Dance - Any song suggestions

We were planning on having seperate father/daughter & mom/son dances at the wedding. But my dad doesn't like the attention spotlight on him. So FI and I are going to combine the two dances into one. Now we are in search for a song that fits both to a dad and a mom. Any suggestions?

My FI and I are doing the same thing. I love the song I hope you dance by Leann Womack.

We wanted to do the same as well...my dad hates to dance and gets embarassed really easily so i thought this would be better...don't have any ideas for the song yet...there's lots of cute father daughter songs but i can't seem to find anything to fit both...

For my father daughter dance we also are doing frank sinatra. My name is Emily and he used to sign the Sinatra song Emily to me so it was an easy choice.

But I agree Frank Sinatra is a classic and you can find some great selections perfect for father daughter or mother son.

I will advise that Itunes doesn't have a good selection of sinatra songs so be sure to check other places if you are not familiar with his songs.

I just listened to the words of Celion Dion's BEACUSE YOU LOVED ME...and it's pretty touching...that might work. I'm trying to figure out who she was singing it too, b/c on part she says "BABY" lol but if you listen to the words, it's like to someone who raised you, mentored you, made you who you are today. I was thinking my FI would like to dance to this with his mom. Then I was thinking, wait, I want to dance to this with my mom...listen to it...let me know your thoughts!

Frank Sinatra's "Young at Heart" is a great song that would work for both parents.

Insuregrl, I saw an interview years ago of the woman who wrote "Because You Loved Me" (Celine didn't write it) The songwriter wrote the song for her dad. I always thought the song didn't quite fit well with the Michelle Pfeiffer & Robert Redford's "Up Close & Personal" it was paired with.

Insuregrl: I believe that song was inspired by Celine's Husband. He is very much her "senior" and was mentor and father-like to her when starting her career as a young woman. Eventually their loved blossomed into a romantic connection...hence the different references. With that said, I do like that song choice for both Father-Daughter and Mother-Son dance.

"Because You Loved Me" is a great song. It was written by Diane Warren for her father, because when she was an aspiring songwriter her mother thought it was just a dream and wanted her to get a "real" job. Her father always supported her songwriting aspirations. Diane Warren also wrote "If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher.

She also wrote "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" that Aerosmith sang for the "ARMAGEDDON" soundtrack. Multiple grammy winner and I think most of diva type songs (Celine, Christina Aguilera, et al.) are Diane Warren compositions.

Big and Rich "I loved her first" It talks about watching you child grow up and "I loved her first, I held her first, a place in my heart will always be hers, from the first breathe she breathed, when she first smiled at me...." It's beautiful and the sentiment could be shared my both parents.
