Peridress.com ??? To Order or not to order?

Has anyone ordered a dress off of this site? I wanted a Maggie Sottero dress but $1300 is NOT in my budget. It is on Peridress.com (obviously not made by the designer, which I don't care about) for $169.99 ??  I don't know if I should risk ordering or not. I have a dress already but I am not in Love with it... I don't think so anyway? I am so confused right now... If you can offer any tips or words of wisdom ladies, I would appreciate it very much!

I got my dress. It is amazing! I can't find any faults in it. It fits me perfectly, it is very professionally sewn. I love it! I would like to post photos on here, but I'm very superstitious and can't risk my fiance seeing it. If you really must see a photo, send me a message with your email address and I'll try and send you one.

It's a Mori Lee 2088, so it's fairly simple but there are a lot of things that they could have messed up on. I would definitely recommend this business to anyone who has a lot of time to find a dress before their wedding. (Since it can take up to 30 days to make the dress, and shipping is sometimes unpredictable, I've seen so many complaints referring to time issues...)  I was so afraid after reading all the complaints and problems people have had, I am very happy to say that it was well worth my money.

I wouldn't do it.  One of the classic stories is that the girl thought the dress was beautiful and then right before she walked down the aisle the zipper split wide open.

Usually they have no boning for support.

The satin is often acetate satin, which burns easily and is hard to steam.

They don't issue refunds without a BIG fight. . . .FYI.  There are so many ways to get a cheap dress besides this. . .

Mountain Bride:

I took a look at your website and I wanted to give you some feedback.

First of all, I have a friend from college here that is originally from shanghai. He is one of the managers in one of the shops that makes designer wedding gowns. After I received my dress, I told him all about it and he explained to me that it is one of the sister businesses of theirs. They can't easily enforce  copyright laws outside of the USA. Also, they're not selling the dresses as Designer, they're selling them as 90-99% similar. Of course not everyone out there is satisfied with everything they've received when buying from these businesses. However, have you never met someone who's had bad experiences with things not made in china? My dress may not be made with the same material as the original dress,it's a bit lighter weight. Where I'm having my wedding ceremony, if I wore anything more heavy than this I would be down before I started walking down the aisle! My dress is boned more than the corset I bought to wear under it, and proper boning. I have no idea about the satin used on it, but it wasn't hard to steam. I think ordering from this company is something people should risk if they have the time and the $100. My dress was all professionally sewn, no loose edges and I couldn't have spent the money better.

Of course, this is my opinion - my feedback to you.

To everyone else:

I love my dress, I have gotten quite a few compliments when I've tried it for people - the only negative thing anyone said about it was that its too "poufy".

I wouldn't do peridress. I've spent ALOT of time researching dresses from China like this.  I decided to get my dress from Julius Bridal.  They definitely have a better reputation than Peridress.  I will write a full review on them later once I have my dress. Bottom line though:  They make very pretty dresses, but you need to allow yourself at leat 9 months, and you need to check up on them constantly to see that its getting done.

I looked into peridress for my bridesmaids dresses.  They were not very responsive to my emails at all and never got back to me. That's what really scares me about them because if there's a prob. I don't have confidence that they fix it.  I did have a problem with my order from Julius, but they have done alot to remedy the situation. Also they have a store full of dresses, pre-made in NY that they could ship you should the unthinkable happen.  What I don't trust about peridress is that they don't show actual pictures.

I have hear a lot of good things about Milly Bridal (Prismis got her gown from there).  I wanted to use them for by bridesmaids dresses, but they didn't have the right color of fabric.  They were VERY responsive to my emails. They also send pics from the factory which is awesome.  I probably would have gone with them for my wedding dress if I had heard of them sooner.

I got my bridesmaids dresses from an ebay store:  angelbride2008

They were the MOST responsive ever!  They almost always emailed me back the same night, often within minutes.  The dresses arrived ahead of schedule  (in less than 4 weeks) and I haven't seen them yet, but my girls said that they looked quality made and there were only minor fitting issues (they took custom measurements).  They have actual pictures of all their dresses, too.

They don't post photos of their actual dresses because for the most part they custom make stuff. They don't make one of every wedding dress ever and just use them for photos. People all over the world are all different sizes, so if they did that it wouldn't be a real smart move - they may sell more of one style than the other. There are many dress styles that are very common for them. Also, if you look under their 2009 listings - they DO have their own pictures. It's difficult in this time of globalization via internet to have perfect communication. I'm wondering why they don't respond to some emails and I know I've gotten all responses through email and phone whenever I had a question. I think the key to be wary of here is not ordering from china - it's ordering from the internet. I bought my dress online because I honestly didn't care one way or another, and didn't actually expect to wear a wedding dress. The compliments I received from my whole family was enough to tell me it's perfect though. I also wonder where the 9 months thing comes in? I ordered my dress and received it 29 days later (maybe it was 30?) and it was exactly how I asked for it, but much nicer than I'd been expecting. I've heard of people getting their dresses in 2 weeks or as long as 2 months, but 9 months - they would have just forgotten it and pretended to give a refund by that point.

Here's what I've noticed about Peridress... every time someone posts about them on a wedding forum (brides.com, PW, theknot  etc) all these random first and second time posters pop up and say "oooh I love my dress from them" ... seems fishy.

I wouldn't risk it.... unless you have the time and money to shop for another one if it doesn't work out...

BEWARE OF PERIDRESS.COM!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the prices are amazing, i even considered getting a dress from there myself but then it was just eating away at me, "This is too good to be true".

I talked it over with my husband and he pointed out the fishy number it has like 13 digits.

Not to mention when it asks you to put in your credit card info its NOT A SECURE SERVER SITE.(Anyone can access your info, you can tell if it is secure by the the address bar. It will begin with HTTPS:// and have a little lock at the right end of the bar.)

Also when I went to the better business bureau, they had no information of the site.

Just a heads up for any women considering purchasing from them

I ordered my dress dress from Kristie Kelly's "Cinderella" collection from PeriDress. THe original was way out of my budget, and Sara Zhang quoted me at $200.00 with a $2 discount. I ordered it, and specified that I wanted a lace-up back and some other alterations from the original design.Sara said no problem and she would make sure to have these things mentioned to the tailor for me.

About 3 weeks after I ordered it, I asked for more tulle to be added to the skirt. She said it would be an additional $10; I said "no problem" and sent her the money via pay pal that day. I did not hear anything else and the dress arrived one week after that.

I opened it up, tried it on, and discovered that the back was not a lace-up, the length about 4 inches too short, and they did not even give me a loop or button for a bussle. I had asked about the length of the train, and she said it barely touched the ground; however, it was actually a chapel train.

I asked Sara for a partial refund because of about half a dozen of other things that were wrong. We emailed several times back and forth and she then cut off all communication very suddenly. She did not give me a refund. I am in the process of appealing to the company.

DO NOT ORDER FROM PERIDRESS.

I've been reading some of the reviews and I'am scared now. I ordered my dress about a week ago and I had a question regarding my order. When I sign up to find the status of my order is says it failed. I have been trying to get a hold of someone, sent several emails and till this day I have not received a response.

Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what to do at this point..

To Scadm5:  If you still haven't heard anything, I would call Paypal right away and cancel or freeze your charge.  You only have 45 to do so and they have Peridress on file with all their complaints!!  I decided to give them a chance and the dress I received was AWFUL...wrong color, wrong style, wrong material, and wrong size.  Peridress refused to give me a refund authorization and they will fight you to the end or just cut off all contact.  PLEASE try and cancel your order!! I was past the 45 day time period, but I made a dispute with Paypal and they told me to contact my bank or card company since they usually have longer time periods.  THANK GOD Wells Fargo is in the process of canceling my charge.  DO NOT USE PERIDRESS!!  I know its hard when you see the prices, but you can get cheap dresses at a lot of shops (David's Bridal) without going through some shady company in China.  ALL of you brides who were scammed, please try and contact your card company since some of them have a time period of a few months to dispute the charge!  And it helps to go through Paypal first to have that dispute on file as well.  GOOD LUCK

reebs, was paypal able to help you?

I have a dispute open because my credit card company told me to go through them first and then they would be able to help me. I am getting a bit paranoid about the whole thing.

I have just made the mistake of ordering from Peridress. 12 weeks after order, the dress has arrived and it is AWFUL!!  Does not fit anything like the Alfred Angelo original.  Custom size they really stuffed up and it is about 6 inches too short, lace work was OK but threads hanging off all over it.  I am too going through the whole trying to get a refund thing as they say they won't refund for custom made but then they state unless measurements are out by more than 3" which in this case they are.

Will lodge dispute with paypal and with Visa.  I now have a very stressful few weeks trying to find a dress "off the rack" in plus sizes with only 2 months to my wedding with no budget for an expensive dress as in Australia we get sooo ripped off with clothing prices - more than 50% higher cost than USA.

Communication is difficult to say the least with Peridress.... I should have read this forum first!

Hi,I am from Australia.

I saw the Peridress site, fell in love with a Mother of the Bride dress, and ordered it, and paid by credit card.  Had contact with someone called Shirley.

I then saw a thread on a site totally not connected with handmade overseas dresses, and googled Peridress.  I felt totally sick when I read the reviews about Peridress on this forum.

I contacted Shirley, many times, expressing my concern, that the company does not have a good reputation, blah blah, and she wrote back by email and assured me, I will get my dress.

I basically was prepared to kiss that money goodbye, and put it down to a bad experience, it was not worth the stress I realised it was causing me.  In fact, I was looking at other dresses on Ebay, when it showed up, six weeks after ordering.

I am very happy with it!  It is just beautiful, style same as picture, colour as requested. It does have a few "rough ends" in the sewing, but I am happy to look past that

given that I did not think I was even going to have a dress from Peridress to wear, after reading the forums! I signed up to this forum tonight, so that I could post my experience of Peridress, I have nothing to do with Peridress, other than buying a dress of them.

Would I use Peridress again?  I am not sure if I would.  I love the dress, but when all said and done, I have only got what I have paid for, a beautiful dress, but not the best quality, so I expect maybe two wears from it, before i find the stiching falling apart

It is a case of saving dollars and a gamble, against the possible stress it will cause you, good luck

Mine was a happy ending, lovely dress, quality lacking, but grateful I received the dress!
