Peridress.com ??? To Order or not to order?

Has anyone ordered a dress off of this site? I wanted a Maggie Sottero dress but $1300 is NOT in my budget. It is on Peridress.com (obviously not made by the designer, which I don't care about) for $169.99 ??  I don't know if I should risk ordering or not. I have a dress already but I am not in Love with it... I don't think so anyway? I am so confused right now... If you can offer any tips or words of wisdom ladies, I would appreciate it very much!

I ordered my wedding dress off Peridress.com last week after a few weeks of comparing my options. The dress i wanted was from the Allure collection and is an all lace dress with a keyhole back. i live in CA and went to downtown Los Angeles to compare the real deal to the knock-offs i know they have out there. the $1600 dress by the Allure designer was not impressive and the lace was scratchy an seemed cheap, i thought it WAS a knock off...so that made my mind up, i ordered the knock-off from peridress for $219 and i now have $1400 extra to spend on our honeymoon to Belize next May! I figured, with the money i am saving, I can splurge on any alterations or extras i need/want to make my dress custom & perfect for me! & i am only going to be wearing the thing for a mere 8 hours out of my life, if it can hold up for 1/3 of a day ill be happy! and im sure it will. I dont need the designer label to make me beautiful on my wedding day, and im positive NO ONE will be picking out the slight differences between the original and the peridress creation....because no one is paying more attention to the differences than you!

As for them not responding to my emails, ive experienced quite the opposite, ive written three frantic emails (two asking questions about shipping & sizing) and 1 asking if they got my notes on the coloring(because i want the slip undernieth to be in "champagne" and the outer lace dress to be in "ivory", the woman named 'Riken' emailed me back within 48hrs EACH time.

So, my opinion is do it, but ill give you my utlimate opinion when my dress arrives in a month or so....

SOOOO! A MERE 9 DAYS AFTER ORDERING ($50 10-DAY SHIPPING), MY COMPLETELY CUSTOM COLOR/SIZE/STYLE DRESS WAS MADE IN CHINA @ "PERIDRESS" AND ARRIVED SAFELY TO MY DOOR STEP IN LONG BEACH,CA. I ADMIT I WAS NERVOUS, BUT AFTER OPENING IT, AND TRYING IT ON, I HAVE TO SAY I AM BEYOOOOOND IMPRESSED, AND I ACTUALLY LOVE IT 100 TIMES MORE THAT THE EXACT COPY OF THIS ALLURE DRESS I TRIED ON IN LA FOR $1600! The real Allure version of this dress was a slinky/cheap spaghetti strap slip with a zipper; then a scratchy cheap feeling lace dress that went over the slip(absolutely no medesty in the dress, stick-on bra would have had to be worn). BUT, my dress that came from Peridress is a full on double-lined sweetheart gown underneith, complete with boning and bra inserts sewed inside!!!! I feel so secure and it feels like i am wearing support hosery when i am not! ANNND Allure does not offer "Champage" color for this wedding dress, and i was able to order the underneith dress & sash in champagne, and the outer lace in ivory for no extra charge! It is truely my custom-perfect dream wedding dress and i couldnt be happier knowing i saved all that money, AND got my dream dress! I really hope this helps you brides debating about saving the money & still getting an awesome dress!!!

***The pictures below are me in my room, standing on a stool, then the actual Allure dress they modeled it after from the catalog photo*****

Hello brides!

I just received my dress that I have ordered from Peridress and it almost made me cry.  Everything was wrong except the color of it.  I have paid them extra for modifications and custom sizing but what I got is just a joke, and not a very funny one before the wedding.  The only thing that I did smart was ordering way ahead of time.  Here are some shots of what I ordered and what I got... coming up in 2 postings...

I'm giving them 24 hours to reply to my complain, and tomorrow at the same time I'm putting through a dispute with PayPal.

Any advice on how to deal with PayPal will be greatly appreciated!

This is one of my pet peeves.  I really do sell alot of last minute dresses because brides order their gown and it doesn't even resemble the dress they fell in love with.  I know some of the gowns DO turn out, but I don't hear alot about those.  I deal with the brides who are out the money they spent on that dress, and are now having to purchase another gown.  Some of them are able to get the gown altered, but that takes care of any savings they orginally made.  They're upset, in a time crunch, and working on a tiny budget, because they already purchased a dress!

You have to remember that there is no quality control.  Your wedding gown might not necessarily be made in a factory, it can be made in someone's home.  The person making the gown may be a great seamstress, but then again, they may not.  The material will definitely not be the same, and it might not even be the same color.

If you really want a designer gown at a great price, go to a boutique and check out the close outs.  They discontinue samples twice a year, and those dresses are pulled off the sales floor and marked down.  I have sold $2000 gowns for $500!  They are definitely worth checking out and you even get to try them on before you buy them!

Ok...getting down from the soapbox.  Sorry...I can't help myself when it comes to the China dress controversy!

Hi i am a soon to be south african bride after reading all your posts about peridress iam now very worried i ordered a dress on the 08/01/2012 which i am totally in love with from their site and paid via paypal. if i never emailed them i wouldnt have heard from them... i have filled in contact us forms and the have definitley been prompt on thier replies but what worries me is the responses appear to be computer generated and i gave them latest arrival date of the 31/03/12 i havent recieved a tracking number as yet (more than 10 weeks later) should i be concerned??? The reason i ordered from this site was affordability the dress i ordered would have cost me more than R4000 rand here and getting married on a tight budget would never have allowed for such a expensive dress had it been made here in sa and the bridal boutiques dont stock such nice styles here for plus sizes.... Should i worry or just as we say in rsa hurry up and wait till the 31/03/2012 and then act...

Hi All,

I just discovered your site by chance....

I ordered my wedding dress on January 29th.  My latest date for delivery is tomorrow.....it still hasn't arrived.

I'm terrified, I get married on April 21st.  We're on a tight budget, and it took me ages to find a dress I actually liked!  I tried on so many, and didn't like a single 1 in any of the bridal shops we went to.

I emailed them about 10 days ago, and got a reply in about 12 hours! They said they were working on the dress, and that it would still be here on time.

I have sent another email today - awaiting response.

The problem is, I don't have the cash to buy another dress if this one either, doesn't show up, or is awful!

I could cry right now!

Trust me, whatever the outcome, I'll let you know - so that I can either warn others, or let people know that indeed, the gamble can pay off!

Wish me luck - I think I might need some  :(

DO NOT ORDER FROM PERIDRESS!  I can't state this enough.  This company is not authorized to make the designer brands that they advertize.  I ordered a mother of the bride dress and what came was nothing like the picture of the dress I ordered.  Their response was to send them pictures of what was wrong with the dress.  Everything was wrong with the dress.  They informed me they don't have to make it 100% like the picture I wanted.  Their resolution was for me to send the dress back to them and then they will give me half my money back.  They get the dress and money too, I think not.  I have disputed this with my credit card company and I hope to get a full refund and I will gladly send them back this piece of crap of a dress.  The top material actually didn't even match the bottom material.  Very poor workmanship.  Buy from them only it you want to be scammed.

Hi girls i got my story to tell!we all know how important this day for us and especialy wedding dress.Getting meried in Seychelles,so it is very hot.never was thinking about big dress.didn't knew what will look good on me.wasn't going to spend tousands on it eather. So by excident searching online i found this websit peridress.was realy suspicious, been reading rewies.dresses is not disigner but people were happy. So i found one simple design A-line strapless, very simple, just material meant to by lace.I been so looking forward to get it.And when it finaly arrived....i was speachless and when i opened the tiny packet i wanted to cry...it wasn't lace the cheapest net curtyn you can get and on top of it embalished flowers with beads(that meant to be lace).Stiching coming off, beads were loose.the back of the dress from 2 parts wasn't even and the holes for lace up back were missing...night mare.

it wasn't the one,you know it whe you traying it on.

My advice if you don't want to spend fortune on the dress, just choose something what you can try and return.and always go for qulity.i have learned my lesson.had to buy another dress but this one i love and it is light pure,no heavy undreskirts.Good luck to you all!!!

I've been reading a lot of comments from people all over the internet who are worried about using peridress, and I ordered 3 dresses for my bridesmaids from Peridress in April and just received them, so I wanted to share my experience to hopefully help someone.  Basically, yes, they are made in China.  Yes, they are knock-offs of the designer dress, and it DOES say this on the FAQ on the site.  THAT is a big part of why they are so cheap.  Anyone who has ordered online before, you HAVE to know that nothing is a guarantee.  So basically if you're going to order from them and have no time to get something different if it isn't what you wanted, then you really shouldn't order from them, or anyone online.  You need a guarantee, and you can only get that in a store.  But if you are ordering with plenty of time and ask for it in 30 days (which is when it's free instead of paying more to rush it), then I would recommend them.  But a few things to be aware of:  don't order if you're not ok with a knock-off.  If you want brand name then go to the damn store.  Make sure you REALLY look at their sizing charts because they are totally different than what you may be when you went to the dress store.  Also, I custom ordered the sizing on my dresses, and it says online that can vary to either an inch too small or an inch too big, and I did find this to be the case.  So order SLIGHTLY bigger than you are, and be ok with the possibility of having to alter the dress.  Part of why it's so cheap guys.  But if it's too big, that can be fixed.  Too small and you're screwed.  Another thing, my dress was simple.  It didn't have any beading or anything, so I wont say what the quality would be on that, but the quality and sewing of these was really good.  All of the sewing is really strong, so nothing should be coming apart.  I also contacted them before I ordered via the CONTACT US email link on their site and explained exactly what I wanted and my concerns, and they replied within hours every time, and emailed me every time they had a question.  They even saw that one of my measurements sounded a little long, and emailed me to double check and they were right.  So I was really appreciative about that.  I don't know if I'd ever try calling them though.  You can tell from their e-mail correspondence that their english is pretty bad.  I was also really happy with how fast it got here.  It was less than 30 days.  I do live in Canada, so I DID have to pay duty on it, which I didnt expect, and the shipping was a bit more than I would have liked, but overall I am pleased.  The other problems I did encounter is that the dress is not EXACTLY like the one I ordered.  It's small details though.  The sash is not the sash fabric as in the pics and really doesn't look the same other than it's a sash.  But it still works.  The tulle doesn't look like it falls the same way as in the pic.  But I still really like them, and I showed my girls them and they still like them, too.  I took pics to share but it doesn't look like I can share them, so if you want to see them just email me chickadee_207@hotmail.com and the dresses were the Alvina Valenta #AV9740 if you wanted to search that dress to compare to my pics.  So for the price?  I'm happy with peridress.

It's funny, this seems to be the ONLY site I've came across with any remotely good reviews on peridress.  I wish I would've seen these before I ordered....at least I wouldn't have been churning my stomach for 3 weeks over it.  Truth is though, the only good thing I can say about the company is that they delivered my dress 3 weeks before they promised it.  I can't wear it, but it came in time.

Long story short, it fell apart when I put it on...stitches came undone from the "embroidery" and leaves and beads fell off everywhere.  The "lace" sleeves wouldn't stay up, probably because they were made out of heavy, thick, stratchy tulle with flowers sewed on (to resemble lace?).  They sent it in white when I ordered ivory.  There were sections of lace along the hem that weren't attached to each other (unfinished).  And there was strange padding in the bust that bulged through and made it look like I had huge round circles on my breasts. (The look can only be described as someone wearing a silk shirt with nursing pads underneath) The seamstress had made her stitch markings with purple felt pen, and didn't follow/cover the line, because it was visible all along the neckline. Also the train was described on the site as chapel, but it was most definitley cathedral....felt like I was lugging around 50 lbs. of bricks.  (on the upside, that also means the satin was thick and good quality...just not the length I had ordered) And yes, I did opt for the customized measuring, which didn't matter much seeing as the dress was a full 5 inches too long.  I had used their "how to measure" guide VERY carefully and quadruple checked all my measurments.

I've emailed them with no response, so since they DID ship it early, I may still have a chance to reclaim some funds through paypal protection.

Hey,

I just wanted to say I ordered 3 dresses for my wedding, one for the bride and two bridesmaids. Having read these reviews I was scared!! II told peridress my wedding date was 2 months sooner than it actually is, and the dresses arrived 4 weeks before my fake date, they are all absolutely amazing. Well made, well stitched, great quality. Two of the dresses fitted and one not quite but that was not the fault of peridress that was because my daughter is at a stage where her body is changing and it did just that between when I ordered the dress and when it arrived. My advise is don't be scared, what a great service and a great way not to be out thousands of dollars and still look amazing on your wedding day.

Hey,

My wedding is comming up and I am taking all the previous reviews into consideration. I figured I have plenty of time until my wedding (March 2013) so I am going to take the chance. However, the pricing for peridress is all in AUD; I am in the US and will be ordering off my credit card. How do I convert that?
