Philly Ladies: Dress Shopping

I am going to do some yelping, but as we know some of the reviews can be completely off base. Therefore, where did you go dress shopping? What did you think of the center city stores?

My mom is coming down in a few weeks and wants a list store stores to go to! Thanks!

I didn't go to center city for my dress jes but I did get mine at Ashley's Bridal in Warminster which is 45 minutes outside of Philly. I really liked it there and ended up getting the bridesmaid dresses and tuxes since they had a package deal.

I have been in but never bought anything from The Wedding Shoppe in Wayne.  Not too far from the city.  They are a small shop and I have always had good service when shopping there.

Here is their link;

Also, Suky Rosan in Ardmore.  Again, been there shopping but never bought anything.  Larger then The Wedding Shoppe and they have high end designer dresses.  The ladies there are very helpful.

Is there a particular designer you are looking for?

Good luck!

I went to La Bella Moda in Conshohocken and Sabrina Ann (pretty awesome wedding consignment shop) in Ardmore. La Bella Moda had a wide range of gowns and let me sift through the racks on my own. They do carry higher end stuff like Amsale but also have Marisa, Paloma Blanca, Pronovias, and others.

I'll tell you more about it when I see you on Sunday!

This isn't in Philly but try Bridal Garden in Marlton, NJ.   This place has an extensive collection of dresses... However, you're not allowed to see them.. so be prepared to tell them your price range and style(s).

I don't live in Philly, but I went to a few shops on the mainline with my grandmothers.  They were WAY out of my price range though.

The Wedding Shoppe in Wayne
The Bridal Sophisticate in Media
And Rina Di Montella in King of Prussia

Of the 3 I liked Rina di Montella the best; it's where I actually found my wedding dress.  But I ordered the dress from a shop closer to where I live and it was $200 cheaper than Rina di Montella would have charged me for it.

All three shops had dresses in the $3000-$5000 range, and that was just too much for me.  I was looking for something closer to $1000.  The dresses were GORGEOUS, though.  On their websites they tell you what designers they feature.  The also have Trunk shows pretty often.  At The Bridal Sophisticate I actually met Matthew Christopher and ALMOST bought one of his dresses.

I went to a bridal store on walnut I think, close to old town like 4 years ago when I lived in Philly and it was horrible. We got the impression that they didn't think the bride could afford anything and they only let her try on one dress and made her wait for like 20 minutes past her appointment because some snobby appearing bride was there with like 15 bridesmaids. Yuck. Go outside of the city and you'll get a much better deal I guarantee it,

Thanks ladies! I have a car so getting around won't be a problem... I drive to KOP everyday for work, so I know where alot of those places are. I was just worried about hitting up the main line b/c there to they can be snots.

B/c it is a dress that I will only wear once, I would like to only spend no more than $1,000.... I have a feeling my shoes will be the most expensive item :)

Thanks again ladies! I'll check those places out.... and maybe go to DE for tax free shopping :)

Oh, I forgot there's a little place in Conshohoken.  It's La Bella Moda.  I think they will have dresses in your price range.  http://labella-moda.com/

I bought 3 bridesmaids dresses there.  Very nice ladies.  I didn't do alterations there since my aunt is a seamstress and does them for free for me.

They are a little bit of a cramped shop.  I will warn you of that.  They have the bridesmaid dresses on the first floor and bridal gowns upstairs.  I have never been in the bridal area upstairs as I stayed on the first floor.

Please let us know how things go!  I hope you find "the one"!

I am from northern DE, and I go to a shop there! No sales tax! But its Brides and Grooms. It's best to make an appointment and get special attention.  I work with a woman named Faith and i LOVE her! The dresses there are really reasonable as well. good luck!
