Photograghy workshop/classes in Bay Area

I'm not much of a self learner and I am dying to take better pictures! Every time I see pictures on different sites I am so jealous of the quality of each and every picture. Does anyone know of a good photograghy workshop/class in the bay area that I can take? Or any easy to understand websites or books that can help? I'm finding learning my camera and lens to be very overwheming. TIA!

I should mention, that my end goal is not to be a professional photographer or anything. I just want to take great pictures of my baby girl :-)

when i first started, i received coupons for free classes thru Ritz/Wolf Camera, where i purchased my camera....they were actually quite informative....

i also recommend Scott Kelby's books, Digital Photography 1-3...(i only read 1 and 2)....he writes in a funny, easy to understand way....

also look on local photogs blogs, especially child/baby photogs, they often offer "mommy and me" classes....

Also try searching for "Meet Up" groups in your area.  They have them all over.

Jumo, speaking of workshops, what kind of workshop did you attend when you dropped your lens? How did you like it?

Yelppuppy - I took a workshop from Brian Toohey at the Yorba Linda Regional Park.  We were on a park trail when I dropped it.  This is my third class with him and it's good.  There were only 2 of us on Sunday so we got alot of personal attention.  I am always scouring the internet to find more workshops.  Unfortunately alot of the ones I find are in Orange County and I can't get to those during the week since I work in downtown L.A.  Some of the other workshops I find are just too expensive for me right now.  I'll keep looking.  I think I dream of workshops and lenses!  lol
