Photography question...

So were getting married on an ocean deck at 10:30am were having a brunch reception, important dances and the cake cutting etc. I really want DIFFERENT pics so my photog suggested we go later that day after the reception and after my DH have time to soak it all in... we can drive around downtown and get cool artistic shots. So were going to meet up around five and drive around and take the pics I REALLY want. Does that sound cool? I want cool shots I don't want to look at my pics and say oh wow look ANOTHER boring hotel beach wedding. My venue is nice don't get me wrong but I want my pics to be edgy and funky.

i'm aaallllll about edgy funky wedding pics, hence my "out there" engagement shoot!  i think it's a great idea!!  you'll be able to spend more time with family and guest at the wedding since you're not going to be rushing to get pictures in.  it sounds perfect to me!  and the lighting will be nice if you go closer to sunset! :)

Sounds great to me too. I'm really glad your photographer is willing to drive around with you to get some awesome shots. Plus, you and your new DH will be more relaxed and willing to let loose a little since you'll be married already. You won't be stressed about getting your dress dirty too.

Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun!

the only thing I would point out is:  after all the events, after all of those hours and some cocktails-   do you think you'll be fresh enough for photos?  I don't think I would have that kind of stamina!

We are getting married at 10:30 then having a small brunch reception so there will be a sufficient gap to relax, freshen up etc.

I think that will be great! I think we might drive down to a ghost town close to the location and take some artistic pics at the old country stores and the corrals. But we are doing it during the cocktail hour because we are worried to miss too much of our reception.

thats a great idea. you'll have time to rest and freshen up. we are probably going to do ours during the cocktail hour. i dont know what else to do ya know? i think we're having a 3pm ceremony. 4pm cocktail. 5pm dinner on a Sunday. not much time do do a full fledged photoshoot in our gear sadly :(

I planned on doing it during cocktail hour when we planned to have an evening reception but with our brunch reception there really isn't a cocktail hour so I think this will be a nice alternative to get the pictures we want and still spend time with our guests.

Oh and my photographer said we could do a couple boudoir shots before the wedding while I'm getting ready.
