Dangit Pebbles,

I really should have had them wrap and ship it!! Hehe...They sent me another pic of the dress, and it looks worse. They didn't raise the lace or taper it thin like I asked and the whole dress looks ill-fitted on the dummy it was strange, not really much of a fit-to-flare look either... The only thing they changed was the type of organza. Better. However, the ruffles go straight up and down in the back instead of following the swirl pattern from the front. I don't know how else to better explain myself and I felt really sorry to have to still be "unhappy" with it because Ashley has been so helpful (I think she relays all the right info but the seamstress might not be "getting" it). I know I can't expect perfection but dammit I'm willing to pay more for them to get it right. :O

On a new note, I was going to have them make all 6 of my bridesmaids' dresses. (Well, now I'm afraid they won't get those right because some have ruffle detail.) I found the exact dress on their site that I asked them to quote - AFTER I already asked. It was $51. When she quoted me, the price was jacked up to $73!! I checked the dress in my favorites and lo and behold, the price had gotten changed to $73. Just that afternoon it had been $51 right up until I asked for a quote. That's kind of shady to me. I asked her about it and she said they base their pricing on the "whole market" and the material was more expensive, which I understand, but the price was only raised when I asked for a quote. Had I just ordered from the site, it would have been $51. So what sense did that make.

It's easier to make a whole new dress than to fix it, especially small details. What are you gonna do now?

I warn you about bridesmaid dresses. they do NOT mark them which is which. this has been a NIGHTMARE for me. some of the girls we weren't sure which of the 2 were theirs... one fit slightly better than another. and those that did fit only 1 didn't need any alterations. one of the girls who lives in tennessee (i'm in CA) I sent her dress and it did NOT fit... I switched it with a girl who was a little smaller than her and her dress was off too, and that didn't fit either!!!! ugh!

oh allywells i'm sorry! it sounds like you've had a tough time dealing with them. i've read most if not all of your posts and you've been through some frustrating mishaps! believe me i'm sooo scared that the dresses won't fit. i'm just as scared for my own dress. i'm already of the mindset that asking people to be part of the bridal party is a hassle for them - i don't even want to THINK about alterations. btw, each bm gets to choose their own style, as long as it's gray. i wanted it to be wearable forever!

Hey 2010bride2bee,

good grief. i haven't been posting because each time they "fixed" the dress, it looked the same as before. their best fix so far was that dress-in-progress shot i uploaded last, and it went downhill from there. i also didn't want to post because i was afraid ppl would say "you get what you pay for" or "what did you expect". oh well! it's all true!

the low-down: the most major thing i wanted them to fix was the patchy looking lace on the skirt - this was a change i wanted from the beginning and they said ok, but it was never done. so to make things easier, I told them they could just cut off the lace at the waist so it's a straight seam rather than have the lace "trail" onto the skirt. the ruffles would then start at the waist, kinda like that badgley mischka link. I could cover the seam with a sash. I paid them an extra $25 for the modifications, and promised them another $25 when it's completed. I got an updated picture the same night (they don't usually start work on something without payment first right??) - patches of lace stayed exactly where they were, but they said they changed the skirt. what? it looked exactly the same as the last update, which also had the same lace from the FIRST picture. then they said they would have to charge me another $30 to make a new pattern for the skirt because they couldn't take the lace off, and if they did, the skirt would be useless. I wish they had just told me they couldn't change the lace from the very beginning! Could have avoided them trying to change the skirt all for naught - twice. i think they just wanted me to give up and take what i had. I said ok to the $30, but that would waive the 2nd payment of $25. That's where we're at. I wonder when I'll get to try it on. And to top it all off, my mother hates the dress (the style). GREAT PROGRESS SO FAR, HUH?!

Oh gosh, it sounds like you are running around in circles with them.  Can you just take the dress now and have someone here fix it?  Its a whole lot easier to explain to someone visually (ie pointing and drawing) than typing directions.  Its a shame I know!

I think it will turn out fine in the end!

hi phannie, yes it was fabulous lol. just hope the end result will be too! we'll see how the new one looks... i'm still planning on having them do the bm dresses and my reception dress. they should be a LOT easier than this one since there's no beading or lace involved.

2011bride, i could have taken the dress for a discount (they offered - must be super sick of me) but figured the alterations for lace/beading/ruffles HERE would be more than the cost of the dress itself. i respect their work so instead offered to pay a bit more to get it modified, even though they ignored my instructions a few times.......... yeah i'm worried, this is a total gamble!!
