How are you doing it? Or how did u do it? And why?

i really don't wanna do a 1st look but thinking about doing fam pics with my fam and he can do with his.... just to save a little time. Then during cocktail hour, we'll take pics together and include both fam as well.

Idk....just so much to think about. Plus we'd like to be apart of cocktail hour but doubt that will happen since we have to do pics....too many decisions to make

we did out pics before the wedding.  all of them.  we had a first look and i loved it sooo much.  we had a few minutes together alone with the photographer and videographer just shooting what happened.  then we did all the shots together.  i highly recommend doing a first look.  but dont just take my word for it.  i found a really great video on youtube several months ago posted by a professtional photographer who just wanted to give tips to brides for their future weddings.  she explains the pros and cons of having a first look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnCpIc5xZh0

We had a few first look photos even though he didn't really see me lol but didn't dedicate the entire time prior to the wedding to the first looks.  During the cocktail hour we took all of our photos with the bridal party and parents and had solo shots as well.  We asked the catering company to save us the cocktail appetizers in our room so that when we were finished we would have something to eat and drink.  However our greedy bridal party almost ate all of the food lol.

I personally wouldn't worry about the cocktail hour, there is so much time to mingle with guests during the reception and take pics with them.  You can even use the cocktail hour to actually spend time with your new husband.  It can be very private and intimate and the photographer will hopefully capture that.

We didn't do a first look and I loved seeing DH's face as I walked towards him.

We did some photos before the ceremony with our own parents and then shots with guests after. Our guests went off to do their scavenger hunt (instead if a cocktail hour) and we did our photos with just the two of us before going for a little walk and then heading to the reception venue for a cocktail together before our guest arrived.

@krosa - Thanks for the vid! She makes a lot of sense, but I still want the traditional part of not seeing him until its time to walk down the aisle. Good tip poppyaka! I def was thinking to have them save some cocktail food for us. nice @ Canooknic! I def want that...to see his reaction etc.

We are doing a first look but prior to that the photographer will take the pictures of him with his guys and some of him and his family. The guys will arrive ready so it will be easy to get their pictures right away. We do plan to take most of our pictures prior to the wedding. We arent having a cocktail hour.

For my pictures, I want the photographer to get me and my girls before the ceremony. As well as him and his men. We're not doing a "first look" I'm  a little traditional in that way and he will have to wait until I walk down the aisle! lol Then after the ceremony, we'll do a couple full bridal party pictures and pictures of just the two of us and pictures with family. And everyone else will be looking at some pictures I'll put up and having some punch or coffee.

Our photographer had an assistant, so the main photog was at the hotel taking pics while the girls got ready, and the assistant was at the church while the guys were there. We did most of the family pics during that time. Then we had our mass, went to our reception town and took BP pics, then pics of just the two of us. We made it back right before the cocktail hour started.

We had some pics taken before the ceremony with my family and I and then he and his family in their room. The main pictures were taken after the ceremony during the cocktail hour. We were finished a little before cocktail hour ended.
