You could do a candle votive or a single flower in a bud vase?

Whats your look? That may help..

We decided to hang the placecards on the backs of the chairs, like this:

It's nice because it keeps the tables uncluttered and makes it easier for the servers to see.

Samantha- since your Coordinator will be manning the table- can she tell people to keep their name tag and explain that the waiters need them for the meal info? This certainly isn't fool proof but is one way that you can still use the place cards you want.

Maybe another option is to have a board with names and table numbers on a board, list or chart and have the actually place card/candy at the table. that way, the guest wouldn't eat it til they were seated (or til the meal is done) and it would be easier to have the name card with them on the table for the waiter.

http://www.marthastewart.com:80/article/lilac-and-brown-cards-in-bloom?xsc=stf_MSLO-ARTICLE

here's a link my sister found for me on the martha stewart site. I think it would be a cute idea. i would change the brown leaf for a green leaf and I would use orange and pink paper for the flower. [does that make sense? sorry]

try some ideas from martha stewart's site for some inspiration. [sorry i don't want to post a link, bc i myself have ahd trouble getting to the site bc i think they changed something.. idunno. just google martha stewart.

hope this helps.

aching, I like the back of the chair idea.... how do I rig that with covered chairs?

That's our reception site, I think they only have covered chairs and I decided that I was not going to micromanage it... although I'm still entertaining the idea of tulle table runners since we only need six.
Anyhow, how would I attach something to the chair, is it even possible??

Hi Champ - Sorry not to respond sooner - I had my response in my head, I just never typed it! Anyway, I think you could totally do it with chair covers - but instead of wrapping the ribbon around the rung of the back of the chiavari chair shown above, you would run a straight pin horizontally through the top of the ribbon and the chair cover. You could use those pretty pins with the pearl heads, or plainer ones with white or other colored heads. I think it would work out great! Keep us posted on what you decide...

You are so funny, I do that all the time.

I like the idea of pinning it! I wonder if my site would be okay with that. I also thought about tying the ribbon around the chair but I realized that would require a lot a lot of ribbon so its not really pragmatic.
