Planning our much belated HoneyMoon

So, we renewed our vows 2 weeks ago and now we are planning our very first Honeymoon with just the two of us.

20 years ago we did not have the miney and I can't travel during the winter because of the kids school days. So Mark and I are planning a summer trip.

I think we are going to Bermuda via Cruise. The last time we went we had the kids.

So, now I have to figure out if that is what I absolutely want to do or if we shoud go somewhere we have not been.

We have limited funds of $4k for the entire trip. We only have 5 to 7 days available to us.

I was also think Acadia National Park in Maine might be great fun.

I have always wanted to go to Ireland, but I know if I went there I may not come back here. It has been a dream of mine to move back to the old country since I was a small child hearing stories of the Selkie and The Cliffs and the Greenest most beautiful moss and the pubs OH MY the pubs.

One of the considerations has been my weight, but now that I am down to a 20/22 and dropping I figure I should look pretty decent in an evening dress.

Anyway, do you have any ideas?

I think 4K should get you a pretty decent HM somewhere! Ours was just over that for a 7 day stay plus flights in Punta Cana, and we stayed at the best of the best. So a 4-5 night stay somewhere tropical should be feasible if that is the way you want to go!

I guess that would be my first suggestion - figure out what type of HM you want. A tropical cruise is way different from Maine, so first decide if you want warm leisure or adventure, lol.

That is the issue I love adventure and I love leisure and honestly since we have been married we have done neither. Even in Hawaii it was anything but restful with an 18month old in tow. UGH!

I've never been on a cruize so that would be my first pick. But for you guys I say if you really loved Bermuda - do it again. Then again I'm always up for something new so trying a new destination would be wonderful as well! :)

Sorry I'm not much help but enjoy and I know you'll have fun!

I agree with the other ladies - decide what kind of honeymoon you want! DH and I went on the adventure of a lifetime for our honeymoon, and now I really want some sort of fancy tropical resort or cruise to just relax in for a week or so. They are both wonderful options though and I wouldn't have traded our honeymoon for the world :)

Whatever you do I'm sure you'll have a blast - and be sure to tell us all about it! :)

Me and DH went on a cruise for our honeymoon. In hindsight I would have rather saved the the cruise for later. We stayed in Miami for the weekend after the cruise and I really enjoyed that. You have more than enough for a terrific honeymoon! Have you decided on anything yet?

whatever you choose i hope it is really special and you remember it forever.  my parents elopped...long story.  and they didnt have the money to go on a honeymoon either.  they actually never took one, and my dad died last aug.  always felt bad that my mom never got to experience that.  i guess that is why the honeymoon was soooo important to me.

Thank you for your input.

Mark and I have decided to install a hot tub instead.  We live on a lake in NH so we figured it would make more sense to do something that lasts longer than a week.

I am only a little disappointed. It is just he does not feel right about leaving the kids even though they are 12 and almost 18 and 19. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I don't want to spend 10k on a vaca for all 5 of us.
